I hate bathing suits (wherein I use a derogatory name for breasts a couple of times)

So I think I'm going to Orlando for Yvette's birthday... In March she's turning 21, and we decided what better way to celebrate her worldwide coming of drinking age than grabbing our significant others (I have come to terms with the fact that I have a boyfriend gentleman caller), and having ourselves a little four person celebration down in the states.

So what came to my attention by the above mentioned boyfriend gentleman caller, is that I might need a bathing suit. The only thing I have close to a bathing suit is the one I got at least one year before I was a nanny, which is quite a long time ago. And I have changed sizes just a smidge since then. So today while I was at the mall attempting to get Kristen's Whirly Pop (which I couldn't get... I'm sorry, I'm a terrible sister) I decided to try on bathing suits. Well, I was less than successful. My problem, and I'll just come right out and say it, is that I have a different size tits than ass. Am I the only girl who has this problem? I can't believe that that's the case. Anyway, on with the nightmare. So the bathing suits that come in a convenient little set (which are normally the cute ones) don't fit me, because in order to fit on top, there's a saggy little hunk of material hanging off my ass which isn't really attractive. So I try a smaller size, then my boobs are hanging out the sides, top and bottom of the top piece. What I need is the mix & match style bathing suits. Prints? UG-O. So I either need to have a 65 year old's bathing suit that fits, or some kind of material or boob hanging out of a cute print bikini. I'm going to try Bikini Village, because if I'm not mistaken they have a LOT more mix & match styles. Swimco just didn't do it for me. And surprisingly enough, I don't even hate myself in a bikini. Lately I've been having some not loving my body issues, but yeah, the whole bikini problem was all about the lame sizing and not the me puking at the sight of me in one.

So I hope I solve my problem before March, when this trip is hopefully occurring, and I can be in Orlando in a hot bikini that fits both tits and ass.

Crusty Rage

We went to the Cage last night. Always down for a good time. We missed Power Hour, but we made it worth our while to be there anyway! There was a live band (as always) who normally just play covers, but still are really good. The lead singer and the bassist are from the band Zooker Baby, which I remember to be a popular band, but upon an internet search to link their site, I came up with nothing. Anyway, if anyone remembers that band, please tell me so I don't feel so crazy.

Anyway, we had a great time, drinks were had, a little bit of dancing, and the result is a pretty sore head this morning. It was worth it though. It always is... Well except that one time that I was so sick I swore I'd never drink again, and it actually worked for about 4 months. That night of partying really wasn't worth it at all. But last night? Definitely worth it.

I don't really have anything to post about.

My life has been kinda regular for the last week or so, so I don't have any crazy stories to tell. I think I need to bust out the book I got for Christmas.

I was recently told by someone that they've never met anyone who parties as much as I do, which really made me think about how much partying I do... I didn't think I really did too much, but maybe I do! Either way, I like it, so I'm not really going to change. (I think I said "I do" way too many times in that last paragraph. No, maybe not quite too many. I DO. K, now that was too many.)

I've been flying a little, working at Starbuck's a little, sleeping, hanging out, you know. This weekend the Lethbridge crew is coming in to party, so I have no doubt that there will be a little more drunken debauchery. Hopefully some more interesting posts will ensue.

Today I think I'm going to the Asian market to get a few things... maybe some bubbles to make some bubble tea, and some other asiany foody goodness. Mmmmmmm, bubbles...

Alright, I think I might have a boyfriend. I'm in boyfriend denial. Not that I don't want this guy as a boyfriend. But seriously. "Single Heather" is fun Heather. I have to learn how to be "Single Heather" with a boyfriend. I'll have to work on that. Crap.

Take off your flip flops and suspenders

I'm pretty sure that I was still slightly intoxicated when I went to work this morning at 6 am. (The coffee work, not the flying work, don't worry.) Last night was ridiculous. $2.30 hi-balls. That's really all I need to say.

Oh, the title is a rendition of take off your pants and jacket. We said that a lot last night. (And no, Kristen, it isn't take off your jacket and pants.)

"Just so you know", you're the most annoying person I've ever met.

The end has finally come to my working marathon... I don't work anywhere for two whole days!! It's kind of weird since I have all this time on my hands, but I won't complain.

Big news, Steph is coming in this weekend from London to party a little bit... I'm pretty stoked about that. Tonight I'm going to party with Sarah since she leaves Monday for Australia for the semester. Then tomorrow, Steph gets in, Nellie's for breakfast, and drunken debauchery to follow. I have to work at 6 am on Sunday, which sucks the big one, but I'll suffer through it for partying. I'm very excited. (For the partying, not so much the early working.)

I did in fact see the Starbucks guy again. And another time. And then talked to him while I was away, and then saw him again. Oh yeah and yesterday too. I think I have the startings of a potential guy that I see often. I don't know how I feel about that. He's a great guy, really sweet, and we have lots in common. But I really am not looking for a boyfriend. But maybe I should forget about that and roll with it. I don't really want to let an opportunity to have a great guy that I see often get away because I say I don't want a boyfriend. Either way, he's nice and pretty cute. Unfortunately he's from Toronto... oh well, I won't hold that against him too much.

My last pairing was alright... I worked with an FA who was a bit.... ummm, well she said "Just so you know" almost a hundred times, which is the phrase that makes most FAs shudder. To me, she prefaced her JYSK with "so how long have you been online?" (which is FA talk for flying) and then she said "well just so you know you're not allowed to wear dark nail polish. it says so in the manual. And some FAs will bite your head off for it." Firstly, don't ask me how long I've worked here when you're about to criticize me. That's lame. Secondly, don't say just so you know. AH! Then, whatever, nail polish, whatever, supposed to be natural colour, dark purply black isn't really natural but it's cool and fierce, fine whatever. Lastly, and most annoyingly, don't say "some flight attendants will bite your head off" when YOU'RE the one who's biting my head off... Don't blame others when really it's YOU that wants to tell me off. Take ownership of your opinions. Plus most people tell me they love my nail polish, so take that and stick it up your manual. End of rant.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I might post, might not... see how much damage the debauchery has on me.

Okay, fine, I have a crush on a gay guy. What are you going to do about it.

I'll specify that this is more an asexual brother sister crush.

So I got back yesterday from a four day, and oh my god we laughed so freaking hard the entire time. It was me, my crush, another non-women liking guy and a girl. I was uncontrollable laughing for probably 50% of the entire four days. This gay guy, who I have a crush on, is the cutest most adorable boy in the entire world... we knew we were soul mates when he sang a line from a Mary Poppins song and I sang the next line without even thinking about it. It pretty much went downhill from there. We had a lot in common and man was he so so cute. All four of us just laughed and laughed, it was such a great time. Doing the demo was more like trying not to keel over because we were laughing so hard. Oh god... so fun. Our pilots were less that great, and we kept having to pretend we had plans so that we didn't have to hang out with them. Since I was in Ottawa, I used Kristen as an excuse. I called her in the crew van, discovered she was really sick and coughy and sleepy, and so we decided not to hang out. I then muttered into the phone "ok, so now I'm going to pretend that I'm coming over so that I don't have to hang out with the pilots ok?" which one of the other FA's heard, and instantly burst out laughing. I in turn burst into hysterics myself... Then I say "ok so when do you want me to come over?" abnormally loudly over the phone, to which Kristen replies "whenever you want! oh wait? why am I pretending?" which made me laugh even harder. So the two pilots are staring at me and the other flight attendants, who caught on to my clever plan, dying of laughter. Even Kristen is laughing because she can hear all of us. Oh god the tears were streaming down my face. So freaking funny. Then when we went to hang out sans pilots we were all stealthy trying not to run into the pilots. At first I felt bad about ditching them bu then I heard them talking about how I had a nice ass in a super creepy way and then stopped feeling bad.

Today I worked at Starbuck's and we had a "borrowed partner" from an other store working with us... He walked in the door and my face instantly lit up. We are lacking in the cute single guys at our location, so having one even for a morning was a nice change. I'm thinking I might see him again.

I leave again tomorrow for four more days. I'm in Vancouver... I hope that the snow has sort of subsided so that we don't get any crazy delays. Speaking of delays, I'm watching "View From the Top" with Gwenyth Paltrow, Mike Meyers, Christina Applegate, and Candace Bergen, which for those who don't know is a movie about flight attendants. I've never seen it before, and everyone says that I need to so I'm watching it. It's really funny to see the movie version of flight attending... And it's kind of depressing to see how fancy and nice things are when my job is so not even close to as fancy. (See above note about trying to not keel over and die while doing the safety demo). It's a pretty funny movie though. Maybe one day our* company will get a little higher class... not that I don't like it, because I do, but while in Ottawa my crush and I saw a cafeteria lady cleaning up tables wearing the same uniform as we wear. Nice.

That's about it. Oh right one more thing. So on the last day of my pairing I woke up to my phone ringing. Nothing unusual, since I often get wake-up calls from the hotel lobby desk. Though when I picked it up it was my crush saying "Morning Sunshine!" I said "oh how sweet you're calling to wake me up!" He replied with "so it's 6:45" to which I replied "mother %$#@!*& christ!" since that was the time I was supposed to meet my crew in the lobby. I was not only late, but dead to the world asleep late. I don't really get how I didn't get a wake-up call though, because I know that I requested one. Whatever... Anyways, as he hung up the phone I heard him say to the crew "She'll be right down!"

I madly brushed my teeth, got dressed, surprisingly didn't forget anything and went downstairs. I greeted everyone with a huge smile and said "Good Morning! What a beautiful day!" with sideways hair and no make-up. My pilots were less than impressed and my captain even said "I'm surprised, and kind of disappointed that you weren't crying!". I did my make-up in the van on the way to the airport, my hair in the airplane bathroom, and that was that. What are you going to do right? Crying about it would be kind of stupid, and I was too busy laughing with the other FAs about me forgetting to put my bra on and having to fish it out of my suitcase on the plane to cry! Oh man... I had to sleep in one of these days!

K now for real that's it.

Milk? No milk.*

I'm leaving once again today. I feel like I maybe have spent 4 hours in my apartment in the last two weeks. I'm getting ansy to be done with this marathon of working. I figured out that I don't have a single day off in 16 days. Crappy. Oh well, hopefully I'll be rollin in the dough by the time I'm done (haha yeah right).

This morning as I'm getting to ready for work, I though "mmm, I'm going to have some breakfast." I've been excited for this breakfast for a while, don't ask me why. So I go into the fridge, and there's no milk... Boo. So I think, "Oh, I'll just make a smoothie!" So I get miscellaneous fruit from the freezer, some juice from the fridge, and add in a couple of oats for texture. Well, I'm drinking it, but it really tastes nasty. I thought I grabbed my juice from the fridge, but I actually grabbed Linda's juice which was grapefruit (which I love normally, but not mixed with the fruit I chose, mango and strawberry). So grapefruit, mango, strawberry, and some oats. Honestly, horrific. I'm still drinking it though, because seriously what else do I have? Urg I just took another sip... it tastes like chemicals mixed with gross. No more.

So that's that... nothing really special to say. Hopefully you'll all see me again, one day in the future... If you can recognize me by then.

Have a good week in the cold! I'll be in mild Ottawa. Mooohahahahha.

*That title is for Taylor.

I flew all the way to Mexico and all I got was this lousy pecan tart

Yesterday I flew to Cancun! Hot, 28 degree Cancun, where the sun was shining, the water was oh so blue, the baggage guys were wearing shorts... And I had to turn around and fly back. Back to Ottawa, where it was raining and cold, though quite nice for Ottawa in January so I shouldn't really complain. Either way, it was depressing to be there and not get to stay. To add insult to injury, the Mexican shorts wearing baggage people stole all the extra meals (on charter flights they provide meals to guests and staff), so we the flight attendants didn't get any meals. Apparently this is common in some of the charter destinations because the Mexican ground guys definitely don't get paid as much as our ground guys (since they aren't westjet, and they live in Mexico) and so they take the extra meals to give to their families (or probably just to eat themselves, I don't really know.)

On one hand, I'm all "Hey! I'm hungry and I didn't bring any food today because I knew I would be getting a meal. Give me back my food you thieves!". On the other hand, I'm all "Go ahead and take it because you're hungry and though I'm not rolling in it, you probably are way more needy than I am and go ahead and take these meals and take more!" They're even smart thieves, because before, they used to take a whole box of meals and then we wouldn't have enough for guests, we'd write it up and they'd get in trouble. Now, they figure out how many guests we have on board, and then leave just enough meals for the guests and take all the others. Since the only ones that are missing are the extras, we don't write it up and they don't get into trouble. So all I ate was a pecan tart that a guest gave me out of their meal... (don't worry it was wrapped). Even worse than flying to Cancun and not staying there was the fact that we flew out at 5:40 in the morning, which meant a 4:30 check-in. Which meant a 3:30 wake-up. So I woke up at 3:30, flew to Cancun, got robbed by the baggage guys, had a pecan tart, flew back, got back to the hotel and was sleeping by 3:30 pm.

After my nap, I walked to Kristen's, picked up Starbuck's and some bubble tea on the way, and then chilled and watched the hockey game. I ended up sleeping there since I didn't want to cab it back to the hotel after the game, so I'm here still and chillin on the couch trying to decide when to drag my lazy bones back to my hotel. I forget how much I love my sister sometimes, but last night when I decided to stay here, instead of asking her if I could stay, I just asked "do you have an extra contact case?" She said yes, and then when I went into the room to go to bed, she had cleared off the bed of all their laundry, set out some extra pjs, and made it all cozy for me! How cute! Best sister ever.

So that's that. I leave tonight, go back to Calgary tonight, work tomorrow morning at Starbie's, then leave again on Tuesday for four days. Hopefully I don't catch Jordan's flu!

It's a temporary chemical imbalance

Saw this on www.overheardintheoffice.com and couldn't resist.

Manager: Why are your eyes so red?

Waiter: I'm just really tired. Also, when I don't get a lot of sleep, sometimes I smell like pot.

Last post of the year

I can't believe it's already New Year's Eve! It feels like it was just Christmas, though that may be because I just spent the last four days not at home. They were very busy. Full to the brim almost every flight, which is good for the company, not so great for us since we're working hard and people get kind of cranky being shoved in so tight. I was also in Ottawa all three nights, which was kind of boring since Kristen and Jordan weren't there. I had fun with the crew though and did some window shopping and a lot of sleeping. I got home yesterday, after an exhausting day, (just think, from started in Ottawa at 7 am eastern time, flew to Toronto, sat for two hours, flew to Vancouver, then to Kelowna, then finally arrived in Calgary at 6 pm, AND three people puked and I had to deal with all three incidents), and ended up driving one of the other Flight Attendants home because her battery was dead in her car. We fiddled around for a bit but couldn't reach the jumper cables to her car from mine, so we gave up. I was super tired and couldn't wait to get home, but seriously if that was me with a dead car I would probably have had a small hissy fit, and I couldn't not drive her home.

I got home, veged on the couch and went to bed. Herein lies the problem. I was in bed by about 10, so this morning I wake up at 8:30, which is a decent amount of sleep, but tonight is NEW YEARS! And I'm going to have to stay up all night and party. I think I'll have to take a nap.

Speaking of New Year's, this is the first year in about 5 that I haven't had to work! I shouldn't say HAD to work, because I normally choose to work at the golf course since it's great money and two of my best friends also work at the same spot, but it's nice to not have to work, to be able to party and just chill out. So tonight's festivities include driving out to Millarville with about 15-20 friends and staying at a cabin out there. We'll be well fed and liquored up, party till the morning, nap a bit, eat some breakfast (maybe?) and head home. I'm really looking forward to it.

Lots of people have been talking about how much they ate over the holidays... well I can say I didn't eat loads and loads, but now, after emptying my stocking of all the candies and goodies, I have a GIANT tupperware container full. And it's sitting beside me right now. And I'm eating it. I think it needs to go away.

Happy New Year's everyone! Catch yalls on the flip side. (of the year that is...)

Why?

I always wonder why I choose to go shopping on boxing day. The sales aren't usually that great... Most stores don't even have sales, others have sales like
"50% off!!!! (on already reduced merchandise)"
and in the rare store that has a great sale, it's normally on all week. So I ask myself why I wake up at 7 in the morning, drive to the mall, spend 20 minutes finding a parking spot, get walked into by fifty ladies with too many bags, stand in line to get into a store, get elbowed by thirteen year olds who have finally gotten permission from their parents to go to the mall alone (only because they don't want to take them themselves), rummage through the disaster zones they call clothing stores, and then wait in line for half an hour to buy a shirt that's five dollars off. Today someone finally solved this age old question.

She said: "Why do men go sit alllll day in the freezing cold in the forest to hunt a duck when they can just go buy one at the grocery store? It's because it's so much more satisfying to have something that they really worked hard at. It's all about the hunt!"

When someone compliments me on the shirt that I got for five dollars off, I don't just say "Thanks!", I say "Thanks! I got it on boxing day!" I'm proud to say I braved the insanity that is boxing day shopping to get this shirt.

It's all about the hunt. It makes sense to me now. It's my way of hunting, without holding a gun or killing an animal.

Sick

I always seem to get sick during christmas... fun times.

I had a pairing, slept a lot, went to cosco, played a sweet guitar game, and slept some more. Had to deal with some interesting guests on board, slept some more, and blew my nose a bunch.

That's really all I can say. I'm feeling like I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing over the next two days, and since it's 11:10 pm I can't call my mummy to ask her what I'm supposed to do. Oh well, I guess I'll find out in the morning.

I still need to wrap some presies too.

And did I mention I'm sick?

Boo.

On a super amazing note, I got picked up from the airport today!!!!! I finally had someone there waiting to give me a huge hug as I walked out the doors! YAY I have the best sister in the world!

*$%@#! %$#&!

This is what I was screaming yesterday morning at 5 am. Since I had to work at 6 am at Starbie's, I dragged my lazy ass out of bed, drowsily went into the bathroom, did my thing, then flushed the toilet. I'm getting my toothbrush out and I realize the water isn't going down, but instead rising alarmingly quickly. One of the worst feelings in the world I've discovered is watching your toilet water rise and being able to do nothing about it. The water gets to the top, and then just starts spewing out. All over the bathroom. I'm standing there in my undies and a hoodie, in a corner hopping up and down as to not get covered in peey water, and swearing. Profusely. I try to grab everything that's on the ground and huck it in the sink, but the water just keeps coming and coming. I hop out the door and knock on Linda's door and try to say in the calmest voice ever but end up screaming "LINDA! CAN YOU COME HERE FOR A SECOND???"

She sort of sensed the urgency in my voice I guess and came out and I said "LINDA! The toilet exploded!" She just started laughing and said "oh dear." I almost shook her her, but didn't, and said "Don't you see, pee all over the bathroom!" Then she realized the seriousness of the situation and we sort of whipped into action. Except we had nothing with which to whip into action since we have no plunger and no mop. Great. I threw a bunch of our towels on the ground, dry heaving the entire time, and tried to make it as un peey as possible. At one point I said "oh god I think I'm gonna puke" and to that Linda replied "Don't puke though, cause you have no where to puke!" We laughed for a split second and then realized that there was sewage all over the bathroom and got back to work. I still had to work at 6, so I hopped in the shower, did one of the world's longest jumps out of the tub and out the door of the bathroom, and quickly got ready for work.

I left and Linda had to deal with a lot of the nastiness... She came into work and I gave her a giant extra strong coffee to fuel her throughout the entire morning. Basically she unplugged the toilet and scrubbed every inch of the bathroom (and a lot of the apartment) with disinfectant (after a trip to the home depot and walmart). Our place smells very lemony! My gross job was to wash the nasty towels, which I was prepared to do, but my loving mother actually did it for me! I put them through twice with extra rinse cycles, so I hope I'll be able to use them again. If not, I'll need some new bath towels!

Seriously, how does a toilet clog from pee? That's all I'm asking.

And why does it clog at 5 in the morning?

Weekend Update

I had a great weekend and part of the week, and I'm thinking the rest of my week slash weekend will go equally as well.

On Friday I worked and went out for drinks with some work people, then on Saturday I went Christmas shopping with the g-ma and got a killer coat and some sweaters. Then I got a late night call from Yvette telling me that she was coming to my place in 20 minutes and we were going to crash the staff party. I got all dolled up and off we went. It was a gong show. That's about all I can say. I worked super early the next morning, so I wasn't a gong show per se, but Yvette and I were definitely there and having a great time.

The next morning I went to work for 5:45 only to find out I actually worked at 5:30... Oops. But then, THREE WHOLE NIGHTS in Ottawa, meaning home cooked dinners and chillin with the sis and Jordan. I chilled out at their place most of them time, but got a little too comfortable in a chair at Chapters one of the days waiting for Jordan to be done at school, and fell asleep only to be woken up by the security guard informing me that I wasn't supposed to sleep in Chapters. I guess my Sufjan Stevens in my iPod and my Spanish book combined with the smell of Starbucks and a comfy chair were a lethal combination. I was kind of mortified, especially when the guard came back like 10 times to make sure I wasn't asleep again. Oh well.

I came home today, had some Vietnamese and bubble tea with Yvette, and then tomorrow I'm getting a haircut, working at starbies and I think I have a date. I don't leave again until Wednesday, so I'm pretty stoked to have the weekend off.

That's the weekend update, I guess it wasn't that exciting. After having re-read it, it seems kinda meh, but I had a great time, and I think I'm just really excited for this weekend.

Things I learned last night (and part of this morning)

  1. There is a new feature at bus stops. A lamp post with two buttons, one being the light, and the second being a little flashy signal to tell the bus you would like to be picked up (and not a crazy wild flashy thing, just a little signal that's quite discrete). How cool!
  2. It takes 7 minutes to get from Crowchild and Kensington Rd. to the KFC on 37th Street. 5 of those minutes? idling outside the gross Vietnamese restaurant and the VHQ or whatever movie store that is these days.
  3. Aussie Rules is a fun place.
  4. Sitting at the bar is also fun.
  5. Sitting at the bar with someone who works there means stiff drinks. (Half-and-half stiff).
  6. The 20 year old bartender is CUTE.
  7. The 20 year old cute bartender is TROUBLE.
  8. The 20 year old cute bartender likes pouring girls shots.
  9. I can't drink 7 shots and half of a very stuff drink in one hour. (Well, obviously I CAN, I just can't.)
  10. The have little mini disani water bottles at Aussie Rules.
  11. The bathroom is a long walk from the bar.
  12. I can't walk very well after 7 shots and half of a very stiff drink.
  13. There are now three little mini disani water bottles in a bathroom stall at Aussie Rules.
  14. Making yourself puke isn't very easy.
  15. I can puke a lot after eating very little.
  16. The 20 year old cute bartender still pours girls shots after they puke.
  17. Sarah can continue drinking after she pukes.
  18. I can't.
  19. I like to write text messages when I'm drunk.
  20. I can spell surprisingly well when I'm drunk.
  21. My new boots? VERY hard to take off when I'm drunk.
  22. I have a new found sense of appreciation for the chair by my front door.
  23. My room seems very far from my front door.
  24. There aren't very many things to hang on to from the front door to my room, but there are quite a few things on which to hit my knee.
  25. You still get really hungover even when you only drink for an hour and then puke.

New Post

I finally clicked that little link at the top of my blog to write a new post about SOMETHING since it's been forever since I have. I've been busy. Sorry.

I got back yesterday from a four day with three overnights in Montreal, which was great, though I didn't get much sleep. So what did I do to recover? Go to bed before 8 pm yesterday. I woke up feeling very refreshed this morning at 6:30, on my own (meaning sans alarm clock, not "alone" implying that I normally wake up with someone in my bed), got ready for work, walked the 10 blocks to Starbucks for 8 and had a great shift. It's a good day today.

Tonight I plan to go to Aussi Rules with Sarah and we'll have some drinks, chat, you know, the yuzsh (pronounced like the beginning syllable of "usual").

I wish I had more to say, but I seriously don't. I think I'm getting my "new" tv shortly, which excites me although I'm not sure if my tv stand will support it. I really hope it does.

K before I start rambling, I'll stop.

But I'll try again to get some good music suggestions. Last time, no one said anything. This time: Tell me your favourite tune, artist, ditty, whatever right now. Please?

Pics, finally.

So here are the Vegas pics. Click on a pic to see the set through Flickr. I had some camera issues with the whole focusing thing... There is also a disappointingly little amount of drunken pics... oh well.

World AIDS Day

I would post a picture of a ribbon, but you can see one here, here, and even here.

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Wherein I swear, just to let you know.

So I've been avoiding a new post until I had pictures from Vegas so that they wouldn't be like a week later and me being all "here are those pics from that time I went to Vegas" and you're all "I really don't care about some trip you took a while ago, I cared a while ago when I was reading about the trip" when really you don't care at all but at least there was something visually pleasing while reading about some trip you don't care about, but alas, I haven't gotten the stupid cord from my mum's place yet, and thus not having a way to get the pics on the computer to put on the internet. BUT, it's been a while since I posted and I was getting bored, so new, vegas picture-less post is here.

I got back today from a three-day, which was pretty easy/fun/annoying. The easy part was that it was easy (duh), the fun part was that I got to see Steph in London, where we had dinner at this awesome restaurant with her boif and bro, another fun part was that I got to see anOTHER friend in Grand Prairie and had dinner and chatted about people and had to use the staff bathroom at the restaurant*, and the annoying part was that my flights from GP and Edmonton got delayed so much today because stupid Edmonton only had one de-icing truck that a bunch of people missed their connections and I felt horrible about it. Especially this one guy, who has a really long weird story, but the jist is that he missed his flight, and his ex-wife will be pissed off yet again and hate him even more. My heart went out to him, especially when he was in the back galley trying to phone her to tell her he was missing his flight and he was leaving a message and me being the queen eavesdropper listening in and hearing how awkward the message was. (And FYI I wasn't even staring at him while I was eavesdropping like I normally have to.) ANYWAY, I was sad that people missed their connections.

I'm VERY glad to come home to more tolerable weather... It was minus a bazillion when I left, and now I think sitting around zero, which feels like a heatwave! Yay for chinooks and missing the transition so I don't even have to get a headache! My feel are still cold though. When will they ever warm up?

I'm almost done my Christmas shopping, which is not as much of an accomplishment as it sounds since each person is getting one small gift plus something from Starbucks. Nonetheless, I only have one more main gift to purchase and then maybe a couple for some friends if I have any money left. This Christmas is really hard for me, because one of my favourite things is to give gifts, and whenever I'm shopping I ALWAYS see things that I would love to buy for people (especially Kristen... I find probably 20 things a day I'd love to buy for her) but I don't have any money this year, so I'm limited to one gift for under the tree and one gift for the stocking per person, both gifts being probably worth the same small teensy amount of money. It sucks. I wish I could buy more, but I really really can't. I also wish I could buy presies for my "extended family" like friends, family friends, fake in laws etc. but I don't know if it's in the cards. We'll see.

I have more to say, but I don't feel like it right now. Sorry! I'm busy reeling on the fact that I just got invited to go to Hawaii with someone, but can't go because I'm working on Sunday. Who gets invited to Hawaii and then doesn't go? ME. Fuck I'm an idiot**.

*I will however tell this story. So we're in earls in GP. I get up to go to the bathroom shortly after getting our bevvys. I go into the bathroom, and all the toilets are, um, full. I go to flush one of them. Nothing happens. I try them all, and none flush. I walk out of the bathroom and some manager type walks by. I tell her the bathrooms aren't working. She says "oh, well I'll try to fix them".

Flash to 10 minutes later, me REALLY having to pee. Manager type brings us our calamari.

Me: "How are those bathrooms coming along?"

Manager Type: "well, yeah they aren't working, I don't know what to tell you."

Me: "Ummmm, so where am I supposed to pee?"

MT: "Do you have to go that bad?"

Me: "Well, ummmm, yeah, and we're about to start our appetizer and we're planning on having dinner, and I don't really want to have to sit here the whole time having to pee."

MT: "OK."

Then she walks away... I look at my friend and we giggle uncomfortably. MT comes back.

MT: "I can walk you up to the Staff bathroom. Come on."

So I go as well as my friend, since she has to pee now as well, and we walk through the kitchen, up some stairs, down a hall, into a bathroom where servers have left their street clothes to pee. The most awkward part? Waiting for my friend to pee, in the staffroom, with Manager Type and other servers talking about how wasted they were all last night. MT is looking at me nervously hoping I'm not listening, but this time I wasn't as good an eavesdropper so I'm staring at everyone as they're talking. Weird story.

**Sorry I swore. Seemed like the thing to do.

So I went to Vegas

I'm home now. Vegas was very interesting. Part of me loved it, and the other part of me hated it with every morsel in my body. I'm disappointed and thrilled all at the same time. Very strange.

The things I liked:
  • The lights - SO MANY LIGHTS
  • The Strip in it's strippy glory
  • New York New York - The hotel smells like apples, it has high ceilings in the casino, and it has the coolest roller coaster EVER. It goes outside and around the hotel and so high... it was freaking awesome and probably the best thing IN Vegas. I loved it!
  • The Fashion Show Mall - Even though I happened to be in Vegas on the busiest shopping day of the year, I loved the mall and the ridiculousness of it... Two live shirtless male models in the entrance of Abercrombie? Crazy, but hilarious.
  • The free drinks while playing quarter slots. HELLO
  • Walking around drunk until 5 in the morning from hotel to hotel. So funny.
  • Walking around Vegas in a tank top when it's minus 20 in Calgary.
  • Going to Vegas for free.
The things I disliked:
  • Our hotel. Biggest piece of crap ever. Sorry, but true.
  • The people - Who on earth gets off an escalator and then stops at the top of it so that people fall into each other while they're trying to get off as well.
  • The people - Who on earth brings their five children to Vegas for a vacation. There were kids sleeping in the hotel lobby waiting for their parents to be done gambling. Disgusting.
  • The people - Rude. (Sorry I know they're not all rude. But mostly)
  • The food - I have never felt so gross after two meals in my entire life. We went to the buffet... well nothing on earth could have ever prepared me for that monstrosity. I don't know if I ever want to eat at a buffet again. All I can say is that there's a rule that states that they can kick you out if you stay longer than two hours. I think that rule was enforced several times when we were there. We went to McDonalds late last night before we left since there was nothing else to eat, and they didn't have any of the "healthy choices" that we have here... No wraps (except a fried chicken wrap), no sandwiches, no salads, nothing. I saw someone eating a Big Mac AND a Double Quarter Pounder.
  • The whole consumerism of Vegas. I know you go to Vegas to indulge, to live in the surrealness for a little bit, but out there I found myself thinking "Wow I would love to be able to look out my window and see the mountains, and not hear blasting music coming from giant tv screens in the street." I understand that's not what Vegas is, but I think it made me reflect on my own lifestyle and be glad that Vegas wasn't it.
I realize that this weekend wasn't the best time to go, since there were loads of people and everyone was on holidays. I also realize that I LOVE shopping so it's kind of hypocritical to be all "people shouldn't consume so much and appreciate the simple things", but I just didn't like the whole larger than life thing. It really wasn't for me. It was cool to go, for a day, for free. I would like to maybe go back, stay somewhere like NYNY and see some shows, but again, more than two days would be too much for me.

AND even though I'm half American, this american city was way too american for me. I like the hippie Vermont type states, not so much the WOAH WE'RE AMERICAN AND DO EVERYTHING TO THE POWER OF A BAZILLION states.

I did get lots of free drinks though. And that's really what this was all about.

Oh, and pictuers are to follow. I just have to get the cord from my mum's house.

OH, and quite possibly one of the greatest things? I got a 40 of Bombay Gin for $14.50 american. HELLO

Enough.

I was getting really grossed out every time I went to my blog and saw the story about the puking, and then reading the comments about "guess what this kid had for lunch"... Enough. No more puking.

I leave tonight for my big Vegas adventure. I borrowed my mum's camera so that I can be as touristy as I can (and since my camera has seems to decide when and where it wants to take pictures, leaving no control whatsoever upon me). I think I'm going to focus on the shopping... My hotel is apparently just blocks away from the Fashion Show Mall where it seems that I can find pretty much everything. AND, a friend has informed me that if I go to the customer service desk at Macy's and tell them I'm Canadian, I get 11% off everything in the entire store. Sounds good to me! I'm hoping to hit up Bath & Bodyworks, Macy's, and really that's all I know. I don't have much money to shop for myself, but shopping for Christmas will hopefully be successful. I have to remember as I'm packing that I plan on buying a crap load of stuff, so I can leave a little room in my suitcase.

Does anyone know how much stuff I'm technically allowed to bring back to Canada from the states in 22 hours? I'm sure I'll buy way more, but I figure I'll just write down everything and hope I don't have to pay too much extra when I go through customs. Maybe I can sweet talk the customs agent... though I will be wearing multiple clothing items made of polyester, so maybe not. Darn.

So I just checked the Vegas weather... Thursday 20 degrees, Friday 17 degrees. Feels a touch better than here, where on Thursday it's supposed to be minus 8 degrees, and Friday where the HIGH is minus 19. Maybe I'll fall ill in Las Vegas and have to stay there for a few more days to recover.

That's all I've got. I swear if someone pukes on my flights, I'm going to snap.

Something a little less boring

Guess where this little flight attendant is going on Wednesday? Toronto... not too exciting. BUT, the next day? VEGAS BABY!! That's right, twenty hours in Las Vegas, staying ON the strip... I seriously can't wait!

I had my first major puke incident this pairing... A poor lady just kind of puked all over herself and the seat and the floor and everywhere imaginable. The rule is, you find it, you deal with it. So, I happened to be the one walking by when I heard "um, excuse me" and I turned and she had puke EVERYWHERE. SO, I won't go into major details, but I had to go back to the seat three separate times and clean more and more because the smell wouldn't go away. I was on my hands and knees, with my face all up in it, and dry heaving the entire time. I even cried a little bit, just because I was in a "I hate my life" kind of mental state. BUT, as sorry as I felt for myself, I felt sorrier for the lady because she still had a long way to fly and she didn't have extra clothes. And plus she was a grown lady who puked everywhere, and she was so embarrassed. (Don't worry I didn't let her see me cry... only the floor and the piles of puke saw that. And maybe the guy sitting behind her... he certainly saw me dry heaving and he was laughing. I wasn't laughing back.) As soon as I got to my hotel room, I called my sis and we felt sorry for ourselves together. I thought that if anyone would understand how I was feeling, it was her, and she happened to be on the verge of puking herself from a bad headache, so we talked to each other in whiny pathetic voices for a little while and I felt better. She felt better later since talking to me probably only made her headache worse, but she sacrificed... that's what sisters are for!

That was my weekend. Kind of crappy.

BUT,
VEGAS BABY

It's a television commercial...

Do you know what kills me inside, little by little? Those commercials that aren't really commercials but little clips of nature in and around Calgary. They show little ducks swimming in the river or eating bread people have thrown at them, or the trees swaying in the wind, or people jogging in unnaturally short shorts, or some other ridiculously lame and boring piece of nonsense. Possibly the worst part of them is the music. The wordless music that plays a loop of some horrible ditty probably played on a keyboard with one of those buttons that has already recorded background beat. Not only that, but they seem so much longer than normal commercials because there's nothing to keep your attention except thinking "OH MY GOSH WILL THIS EVER END???" I hate them. Hate. Them.

(For you Kristen, the first time around I accidentally wrote "Hat. Them." I had to go back and change it.

That was also boring

Whats with me and the boring posts?

I'm flying out tomorrow for four days, going to chill in Vancouver for a couple of nights, which is quite exciting. Today I cooked some food and am going to work, then to pizza with some Starbie's people. Working the other night at the other Starbucks was WAY better than working at the Chapters Starbucks. The girl I closed with was super nice and it wasn't too bad at all. I still like mine the best, of course, but that one was a suitable option.

That's about all I have right now. I had a crazy weekend, I don't know if I posted about that... I forget. Probably having to do with the drinking, and my brain slowly dying from too much booze. The jist of the weekend was drinking and partying and spending a lot of time with friends. Loved it. I especially spent loads of time with Vanessa... it seemed like we didn't do anything without each other. I kind of liked it, not gonna lie. So much laughing again! I love that girl!

The couch is doing alright. I'm liking it more and more... we'll just have to camouflage the un-matchiness of the couch and chair though.

That's the update. I shall leave with a question: What's your favourite song right now? I'm looking to expand the music library.

Monday, November 13, 2006

that was boring

I didn't really like that post at the top... it was pretty boring and I barely read through it myself, so I don't really expect that someone would take the time to read it either.

I got my new couch today and put it in my place. It's nice. Except it doesn't match the chair that Linda recently bought, which I'm pretty upset about, since it's the greatest new chair ever and I love it. I'll have to think how to solve that one.

That's that. Tonight I work at an OTHER different Starbucks, but this one is just 16th ave so no Chapters. I'm hoping it isn't bad.

That's it. See ya.

I look like I've been beaten with a death stick

Red eyes aren't too fun when you haven't had much sleep to begin with. Death... that's what I feel like. Blech. Sleep time.

Shut up!

Guess who's on Breakfast Television?????

The Urban Peasant! He's looking O-L-D. This is the guy who would "measure everything very carefully" on his cooking show while free pouring 80 proof whiskey into some recipe. He often uses his fingers for everything. He would walk around the set with a weird limp and say funny little weird quips about everything. A few years ago he came to the Stampede and my mum was the one who picked him up from the airport and drove him around etc. and she got me an autographed cook book of him. As we speak he's telling these kids to quit with those nuisance forks and use their fingers.

Ah the Urban Peasant. Best Cooking Show. Ever.

Chapters?

So today I have to work at a different Starbucks for a shift, and this one happens to be in a Chapters. I'm kind of scared, because I'm always in my little niche of people at MY Starbucks who understand that I actually don't know anything about my job besides the coffee making and drink calling since I rarely work. Now I have to step outside of my bubble and work somewhere where people don't know me and who aren't amused by my ridiculous stories which makes them love me and forget that I'm slightly incompetent. Yesterday's shift didn't really give me any more confidence because my brain was not working whatsoever and I pretty much wandered aimlessly until I had the thing I was looking for and then wandered again until I knew what to do with it. Hopefully they'll just stick me on till or bar and leave me there until the day is done. (fat chance of that happening.) At least they don't have a drive through. Now THAT would be crazy.
Mix the hungover shift yesterday, the new Christmas drinks that I haven't made, the staff meeting I missed last week re: Christmas drinks, Chapters Starbucks that can get SO busy that the line up travels around the Chapters, and me not knowing anything, and you get a potentially horrendous shift today at Chapters.

Wish me luck.

Update: I got a call from the Chapters Starbucks double checking that I was still good to work tonight. Guess what the male voice over the phone said? "I think we actually went to high school together Heather, I played the flute in Band and was one year younger, and in Marching band too!" (I know I'm making myself look REALLY cool here but this isn't the point, look beyond that and focus!) So I'm trying to deduce which of the two guys it could be who were in band who played the flute and were younger. One I'm PRETTY sure's name is Kyle, and that wasn't this guy's name. So who am I left with? Kristen I think you're following. I think he may have been friends with a recently discovered CSA and a supervisor at Famous Players.... Shit. I'll just roll with it when I get there. Blech. "I didn't know you were a Starbucks Partner! How neat!" Wow, I use neat regularily as well! Wow, I can't wait to go to work now!

In unrelated news, the party was really fun.

Five Days

It seems like forever... Five whole days of work. I leave Tuesday and get back on Saturday. That seriously seems like forever. I hope I still remember where I live when I get back! Or what Linda looks like!

On a side note, the two day trip to Montreal? TOTALLY worth it. I had such a great time out there, as usual, and even though I'm stupid tired I'm glad I went!!! Never too many laughs!

Check y'alls on the flip side... I might have grey hair by the time I'm back!

Quick Update

So I gave in to peer pressure and am in Montreal. I took the 1am flight this morning and got here around 7, slept until now and then we're doing some quick shopping then heading up to the cottage for some Halloween fun tonight. I leave tomorrow night with Vanessa and then back to real life once again! I'm happy I came, but I feel like I might pay for this later. It just seems too good to be true. Either that, or I'll look back in five years and be like "wow remember when I would just up and go to Montreal, Vancouver and London for a day??" and we'll all laugh at my shenanigans.

Anyway, just thought I'd give the update. Hopefully many stories to follow!!

Leaving, on a jet plane

Not that this is unusual for me, since I regularly leave the city and it's generally on a plane. I'm leaving tomorrow and stay in Montreal two nights and Winnipeg one night. Unfortunately, Vanessa is making a trip out there on Thursday, the day AFTER I'm there... and even though I'm there twice, Tuesday and Wednesday aren't generally huge nights out, even in the party city of Montreal. I'll see some friends and chill out, which is probably a good idea since I had a pretty rough weekend.

Today I spent all day at the mall looking for shoes, either runners that I would wear out when I'm away, or work shoes that I'd wear out when I'm away. I can't afford the space in my suitcase to bring both work-out shoes and regular wear shoes... After MUCH looking I found a pair of Pumas that will hopefully cut it for working out. I'm not a polished black shoes with jeans kind of girl, and I couldn't find ANY black work shoes that I would wear just casually. So hopefully these will work for me. If not, I'll be mad I spent money on another pair of shoes since I have about a bazillion.

That's all I got. Sorry.

Another Weekend Update

I went to Lethbridge with Vaness on Thursday to visit Tink Brady and Zach. It was my new car's first mini road trip, so it was a big day for jojac (my car's name... long ish story which I don't feel like typing). We went out to the Duke for the night after playing some drinking games (which ALWAYS end in me hanging over the toilet but this time it didn't) and stayed there for the evening. The next day I hung out in front of the TV for the morning as to still my lurching stomach. Caro and Steve came on Friday night, we all played an other drinking game (time number two that it didn't end in loosing my lunch) and then went to Ice (classy name I know) for some dancing fun. We had an extraordinarily long walk back home because we couldn't get cabs, and then I had the most uncomfortable sleep ever on the couch. Today we chilled for a bit, went to Macdo's and got 44.00$ worth of food for us and the boys and then drove home.

Thrown in there somewhere was me swearing profusely into my rear view mirror because I had just set my cruise control to 20 km over the speed limit and then saw RCMP behind me with their lights flashing, but thankfully weren't after me and then ended in Vaness and I DYING of laughter because we had JUST had a discussion about how fast I could go without getting a ticket (and being safe of course); me crying laughing at lunch with V and Zach for several unknown reasons; me crying laughing again at V because it looked like she was scratching her head with a fork; then more crying laughing at Tink's and my dance routine that started with 5, 6, 5 6 7 8 clap snap hand circles which resulted in V spitting out her drink because SHE laughed... And so much more laughing. And a little stomach unsettleness. But mostly laughing. This paragraph probably means nothing to anyone but me and Vanessa and whoever else was there, but I felt the need to document it anyway. So much laughing. It felt really good to have a lot of crying laughs.

Good weekend. And it's only Saturday.

Edmonton = Stupid

Explanation: I am from Calgary, therefor do NOT like the city of Edmonton. It's something that's in the blood of anyone born in Calgary. I won't cheer for Edmonton sports teams, I don't like visiting Edmonton (it's just not pretty), and I really just don't like anything associated with Edmonton. BUT, ask anyone from Edmonton and they'll say "Calgary... I fricken hate Calgary". So it goes both ways.

ANYWAY, I'm here in Edmonton. And it's 11:18 am. I have already woken up in a different city, worked two flights, gotten to the hotel, eaten breakfast, and set up my computer. 11:18 am. I have THE ENTIRE DAY to spend here. In the city I dislike. Most of me wants to sleep all day and pretend I'm not here, but I think I might have to do something productive. Maybe I'll get new work shoes (that I can wear when I'm not working but on the road because my old ones are too dressy to be actual real shoes) so I don't have to lug around so many pairs of shoes now that flipflops won't suffice in the cold weather.

But I'm not going to like it... let me tell you!

Back Home

I am back. Back to the big city, back to more than three hundred people in a town, back where half of the town does not have the same last name, back to where there aren't 20 kids everywhere I look, back to me being anonymous... back home.

ALTHOUGH, I really do think I could live in a small town like that, just not one that was so far from a big city. I like the security, I like the community, I like the support systems that exist in small towns like that. I just don't like the idea of driving five hours to get some decent stuff.

Anyway, I had a great time up there, and I am quite excited to go back up in February for Carnaval. My little kiddos are all growns up. The thing about being back up there was the inexplicable urge to eat all the time. There was so much delicious food, home cooking, and little bon bons (which is not bon bons but french candies) that were irresistible. As soon as I got back home, I was no longer hungry for sweets, but the second I got there I was just wanting to EAT. Anyway hopefully I'll be able to run it off this week.

That's my update of the trip. It was fun. Happy to be home though.

I'm tired

How can watching a 10 month old for one day exhaust me? Especially since she was asleep from 9-11:30 and then again from 1:15-3:00? Seriously. One child. For almost no time. AND I took a nap in there somewhere.

The kids are great. Eric apparently forgot that I used to deny him snacks before supper and loves me, Nicolas likes me too because I helped him get dressed for hockey yesterday. Nadia likes me cause she's a baby and babies generally don't care who it is as long as they give them peaches.

It's nice to be here. I'm just freaking tired.

I need coffee. And there's no Starbucks here. Anywhere.

Weekend Update

So thanksgiving has come and gone, and good thing I took two days off the cleanse for the drunken fest the other night and Thanksgiving. I ate SO much, I could barely move. It was kind of out of hand. But so good. Turkey on the barbecue is like nothing else. Same with pumpkin pie. So very delicious.

Anyway. I worked at Starbie's Saturday night and Sunday morning, and then got my veggie (green beans) and dessert (fruit and dip... very innovative I know) ready to bring to my dad's house for the dinner. Then the 29 other people showed up for the dinner, and the gong show began. Actually it was surprisingly not so gong showy ish considering there were 30 people in a house for a sit down dinner, so that's really good. I think we were all a little concerned about what would actually happen. It worked out, and the thing I am thankful for this thanksgiving is that I don't still live with my dad and therefor didn't have to clean up this morning.

After dinner I chilled for a while at the house and moaned because my stomach was so full, and then went to Shillelagh's for a drink (which was actually water) to say bye to the Lethbridge crew before they went back today. Stayed there till it closed and then came home and watched Project Runway and then went to bed. I'm not really sure why I'm telling you every single thing I did, but I for some reason feel the need so I will continue.

This morning I got woken up at 11:30 ish by my new ringtone, which got incorporated briefly into my dream and I think I may have been canoodling with Justin Timberlake, but then realized that it was actually my sister calling me to ask "are you awake yet???" to which my answer was "um, no? yes? what?"

Since then I've been sitting on my couch, looking at random shit on the internet, slowly getting up to pack for my trip up north tomorrow, and watching a CSI marathon and also a Survivor 1 marathon. Survivor used to be so ghetto compared to what it is now, but I'm realizing that Survivor is exhausted, and nothing special anymore, so I'm pretty much only watching the CSI marathon.

My little adventure up north starts tomorrow, where I fly to Grand Prairie and will be met by the family I used to nanny for and we'll then drive me to St. Isidore, where I will stay until Sunday. I think we'll basically chill, relax, and make me feel so old because the four year old boy I nannied is now almost 7 and the almost two year old is now 4 AND there's a new baby who's almost 1 who didn't exist when I was there. I feel old. Very very old. Anyway, I'll be chilling up there with Marc and Monique and the chitlin till Sunday, which is when their new nanny will be arriving. I'm excited for that because I haven't been back for a year and a half, and I love just hanging out with Mo. It will be great.

Tomorrow my sis and Jordan also leave, but them not so much up north but more eastward towards O-Town. (Yes, you do live in a tv made boy band). I hope they had a good visit and even though they didn't ACTUALLY toast to WestJet last night, I know they both owe this visit to me and should buy me gifts of appreciation. Well not actually. I'm happy to give them the chance to come home. For real. Anyway, I'm glad they had a good visit.

That's about it for my weekend update, though I'm no Tina Fey or whoever is doing it these days on SNL.

On a side note, why do people in apartment buildings listen to super loud music with loads of bass all the time? Normally it annoys the piss out of me but I don't say anything because it's not like it's super late at night or anything. But for some reason I'm very annoyed by it today and it's grating on my nerves, more and more every time there's a big low note playing. Should I ask them to shut the hell up? (though perhaps a little nicer) or slip them a note when I know they're not home, or just not do anything? Does living in an apartment mean I have to put up with that? And, how do I know that they aren't as annoyed with me and MY loudness... I don't think they KNOW they're being obscenely loud, so for all I know my tv and music are super loud as well and they're having the exact same ill feelings towards me as I have towards them? What a predicament.

Hope everyone had a good long weekend!

Entertaining after a night out = bad idea

I'm taking a break from chopping fruit and madly trying to clean my apartment while feeling like I will throw up in four seconds to type a post letting everyone know that this is a seriously horrible idea. Why do I decide it will be great to have people at my place for a little get together for my sister when I KNOW I'm going out hard the night before? Don't know.

On a lighter note, last night was AWESOME! We went to the Rusty Cage, as classy as the name implies, to celebrate Brady's birthday. It was quite the evening. I got there in time for the Power Hour, when beer and hi balls are only $1.75. Needless to say, no drinks were purchased after the Power Hour because we majorly stockpiled. At one point Vanessa, Tink and I had about 15 drinks in front of us. Needless to say we ALL had a great time.

Pictures to document the evening? Oh Yes. There are some really crazy ones, but these are the tamer, more postable ones.

I'm not sure at what point in the evening I got a boys buzz cut on my bangs, but I guess that's just an indication of how much alcohol it takes to make me stop caring about how my hair looks.

I just really liked Tinks hair in this picture. Great photographer, I know I know. (In the background? Birthday boy and someone who's name I forget.)

I will let you all know how this entertaining thing goes. I might not make it to 1:00, which is when people are coming over. I hope I do.

Sexy Pictures

I pretty much love titling my posts "sexy pictures", only to frustrate people searching for porn and getting my useless blog post.

Anyway, last night I had the goal of taking some sexy pictures of me and my new car, but it didn't really happen. First, I had to get my car washed. Then, we decided to go out and spent far too long getting ready and by the time we went outside it was dark. Then we decided to try anyway, and the batteries in my camera died. So all in all, it was a total bust. But soon. I will have the pictures soon.

Today the sis came to town with the brother in law (who doesn't have a blog to which to link, loser) and it's great to have them back in town. I feel kind of selfish since I see them way more often than everyone else because of the whole flight attendant thing but still want to hang with them in Calgary. So far the selfishness has worked because Kristen and I have been hanging out just the two of us all day. That was slightly accidental because I ended up taking WAY longer than expected at the university picking up my degree. It took me AN HOUR to get a freaking paper with my name on it. Lame. Hopefully tonight we'll hang out with other people too so I don't feel so bad. (And by bad, I don't REALLY mean bad because I'm totally fine with hanging out just the two of us but I say bad just to look better to others).

Here's a little shout out/question for Steph, and the others who know "the story" and have benefitted from my misfortunes and laugh at me daily because of it... Guess who I ran into at the university? Just take a wild guess. The result was giggling and me saying to Kristen "funny story after we walk by this group of people". Will I ever stop providing people with constant amusement because of my ridiculousness? I think not.

New Look

I realize that this is almost the same template as the big sis k, but hey, I never stopped wanting to be exactly the same as her! Well honestly I just couldn't find one I liked any better, but believe me I tried. I'm ITCHING to be able to make my own template like so many other people, but I'm just not there mentally. I've tried, and almost deleted my entire blog, so I give up. I really wish I could. Seriously. For real. Any suggestions? (I know I've already asked, but I didn't really get any responses. So this time, help. For real.)

I also got a haircut. So I have a new look too.

I forgot to give a shout out to Steph, because today is her birthday!!!!!! I already devoted a WHOLE ENTIRE post to her the other day with lovely flattering pictures of her, and I sent her a Ben & Jerry's e-card today as well, so really, she can't be mad. I mean, if Ben & Jerry's can't make someone's birthday, I really don't know what can. It's the best ice cream ever. Especially Vanilla Heath Toffee Crunch, and Cherry Garcia. They're both delicious. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah Happy Birthday Steph!
