London baby!

So I went to London (Ontario, that is) yesterday morning and came back this evening. ALL that for Steph. (You better love me Steph). I was at the airport around 4:45 in the morning and flew, got to London, hung out at Western with Steph at her work, then we went home to her place, had a few bevvys, had a fancy dinner with her boif Matt and his friend, went to drink some more at friend's apartment (where we heard the funniest thing ever and was then repeated constantly during the night, more on this after), then went to this martini bar (which had a giant neon sign that said BAR on it) and then went BACK to his apartment to drink a little more, then went home. It was quite en enjoyable evening. I'm glad I went.

So the funny thing we heard needs a bit of explanation. Apparently this weekend is homecoming weekend at Western. (I'm not sure why I'm blogging everything American this week, but that's what's happening.) So grads from western come back and basically drink their faces off for a weekend. How this is different from every other weekend spent at university, I'm not too sure, but in any event that's what it was. So, in this apartment building, there are lots of students. Lots of parties since it was homecoming. As we're waiting for the elevator, we see this girl banging on an apartment door holding what I can guess was a rum and coke in a plastic cup. When the door is answered, she says "were you ACTUALLY complaining about us upstairs?" and whoever was inside the apartment said "yeah" and then girl with the drink said "well you know that your neighbours are also partying, and it's a Friday, and hello, it's HOMECOMING. Get a fucking life!!" and then she stormed off... With her drink. And then she looked at us and said something like "the party is ON". So all night, we kept saying "hel-LO, it's HOMEcoming, get a fucking life!" and it was pretty funny. I really enjoyed the fact that she was pissed enough to go down and yell at the girl who complained about them, but not at the expense of her drinking.

Of course, we had to have a typical Steph Heather picture to complete the evening, so here it is.

And because the night ended with Steph puking, I had to document that through photography. I personally enjoy my eye in the corner... Not too sure what that is all about.

Football

What is with football being soooooo much more popular in the states, so popular that there is a reality tv show about HIGH SCHOOL football players. HIGH SCHOOL, not college. And this football team is apparently state champions or something, but they show the games on tv, they get sponsored, the coaches have headphones on, and their average game gets more spectators than our CFL teams. I just don't get it. And these kids are 16 and 17, practice twice a day, are more built than almost anyone I know, and have full on college scholarships waiting for them.

It's just not like that here. And I don't really get why there's such a difference.

Feelings on the subject?

New Car = Wicked

I just picked up my new car. I love it. I love driving it. I love how I don't worry about it maybe not going when the light turns green. And according to Oscar, I look hot in it. (AWK-ward). It has a lot of cool little features, including an automatic trunk open-upper on the inside in case I get locked in, though I think all cars have that now. It also has a little storage slot for my cell phone. And heated mirrors. And an alarm!!

I love my new car. That's the moral of the story. Maybe I'll take a picture of me making a car pose in front of it and post it. Soon.

What a difference a shelf makes

My room looks SO much better with my new book shelf. I bought a bunch of new frames for some pictures I got developed as well, so I got to put the pictures in the new frames in the new book shelf. I love it. I love it all.

Tomorrow, Linda is going to get a couple more things for the house with her birthday cash, so soon I'll update you on the status of our living room. I'm thinking some more of the same shelves to put on either side of our tv stand, and perhaps an other seating apparatus. I'm pretty excited.

Horses

Today I went horseback riding. I don't really DO horses. I've had too many bad experiences. But Linda convinced me to do it. So I did. And I think I'm done with horses now. Nothing bad happened, and it was somewhat entertaining, but I just don't think it's my thing. I was really uncomfortable the whole time (figuratively and literally). It was too muddy, and I kept thinking my horse was going to trip and fall and fall on top of me and I'd be trapped under him and I'd break something. So that's that.

Am I a real live grown-up yet?

So a lot has happened in the last week. Well not really that much, but it feels like a lot. I set up a little investment plan, which was really scary. I don't know why, but that really makes me feel like an adult. I also decided how much I can invest in my work stocks, so I'm glad that got started.

I also, get ready for it, bought a car. Me. A car. I was getting really disappointed because they couldn't find the exact one I wanted... I four door, standard, with a/c and power locks/windows, in black. They had it in red, but it has this tan interior that created some kind of internal rage the minute I sad in it. They had it in automatic, but I REALLY don't want another automatic, and it's harder to talk on my phone whilst driving a standard, so hopefully I'll break that nasty habit. They ALSO had it without the a/c and power stuff, but I really didn't want to have to unlock my car with a key every time and die of stifling heat in the summer. And finally, they had the hatchback, but there was something about it that I didn't really like.

In any event, I was sad that I was going to have to settle, and I didn't want to have to settle. So I worked my charm (and Oscar, my salesman, worked HIS charm on his boss who in turn found one in Quebec and also had a little crush on me after he looked at my phone and saw a picture of me and liked what he saw) and everything worked out in the end. SO, in 10-15 days, I will be the proud owner of a new car! Can you even stand it? I can't!!!

Yay for me. And I guess I'm growing up.

Finally on the mend, I think.

I still feel a little woozy and have a bit of a sore throat, but I'm getting better. Thankfully. I wasn't sure how much more I could take!

I watched the Project Runway marathon yesterday, and had dreams about sewing and fashion shows. I think I wore a weird dress made out of feathers... weird.

I have to go to work again tomorrow, but it's an easy day, no real working, just getting to the city where we start the next day. So I'll be able to veg and relax more tomorrow. Then I get to visit Kristen and Jordan again, though I think Kristen is a little under the weather as well... I hope I didn't give her my nastiness, cause that would be horrible.

That's all I really have to say right now... Except I'm worried that Jeff Valin isn't on breakfast television anymore because I haven't seen him in a while, but I haven't really investigated at all. Hopefully he's just on vacation or something. I know a bunch of City TV workers got their jobs cut... I'm hoping he wasn't one of them. He's my TV boyfriend, by the way, if you're wondering why I care so much. Well not my fake tv boyfriend, because that would be McDreamy, but my real tv boyfriend, as in he is himself on tv. Make sense?

K well I just looked for him on the website and he's NOT THERE. WHERE HAS JEFF VALIN GONE?????? Someone please tell me!

I've calmed down a bit, but still, concerned. About the whereabouts of my real tv boyfriend.

I'm dying

Death by throat pain. I have the most swollen throat ever... and pussiest. I open my mouth, and it's white. White from pus. I can barely swallow. It takes about 30 seconds to muster the strength to swallow, and then my face goes into this sour cringed with pain face. It's terrible. This is really really nasty. I hope it goes away. Now.
