Football

What is with football being soooooo much more popular in the states, so popular that there is a reality tv show about HIGH SCHOOL football players. HIGH SCHOOL, not college. And this football team is apparently state champions or something, but they show the games on tv, they get sponsored, the coaches have headphones on, and their average game gets more spectators than our CFL teams. I just don't get it. And these kids are 16 and 17, practice twice a day, are more built than almost anyone I know, and have full on college scholarships waiting for them.

It's just not like that here. And I don't really get why there's such a difference.

Feelings on the subject?

Would it be too simplistic to say that Americans are just weird?

my only qualm with the hockey/football comparison is that these things are happening within SCHOOL leagues as opposed to the pro-like WHL. that is A LOT of money going into those sports programs...

When I first met Chris and then moved down here to the states I thought the same thing. I think the thing is just really the whole hockey thing in Canada, its really all most canadians care about.

And actually college football is almost more popular here than the NFL, i think a lot of that is due to the fact that they aren't playing for money when they are in college.

Its frustrating living here sometimes cause no one gives a crap about hockey even in hockey cities. Silly americans!
