Tired. Oh so freaking tired.

Not because work is hard (since today I had a whopping TWO WHOLE FLIGHTS, one from Montreal to Toronto, and the other from Toronto to Montreal, both being under one hour), but because I insist on NOT SLEEPING. I stayed up last night chatting with Yvette (since she was conveniently in Montreal at the same time) until at least 1 am, and my check-in this morning was at 5:45, then instead of coming back to the hotel and napping, I showered and hopped on the bus / metro and walked around Montreal for 7 hours. Seriously. SERIOUSLY?

And what am I doing tomorrow? Getting back to Calgary at 2:00, going home, re-packing, then going to Vancouver with Vaness for Christian's birthday, coming back on Saturday, then working again on Saturday night until Tuesday morning.

Someone slap some sense into me... please? (But after this weeked in Vancouver k?, because I have a sneaking suspicision it's going to be AWESOME!)

I have a feeling I might die after this... or at least crash. Hard.

Right now, I'm going to bed. (and in my defence, it's 8:00 here, so it's not THAT bad.)

Sexy Pictures

I wonder how many times this post will pop on google searches when someone is looking for porno?

Anyways, I promised sexy pictures of me in my new glasses, and I've honestly only taken one picture so far, and that was with Steph in the car waiting to cross the US border to go shopping in Seattle. So here you go.

Now I know how Jordan feels when everyone compliments his glasses. I've had friends, the guy at the cell phone store, passengers (or "guests" I should say) on my flights, all sorts of people saying that they like my glasses! It feels nice! And I feel so fashionable in my D&G specs!

Made it!

I'm back! And I totally rocked it out!!! I did super well according to the guy who was "testing" me. There were only three of us flight attendants for the four days (when there are normally four), so things were a little busier than normal, but he kept saying that he forgot that he was actually testing me, and that it felt like he was working with a regular crew! And so did the other FA who was working with us! She has been around for years and said it felt really good!

Not to say that I didn't make any mistakes, because I sure did... like forgetting what I'm supposed to say over the PA and things like that, but he said I looked like I had worked there for years! I'm very happy!

Now I just have to stop having vertigo and clutching to things every time I go to walk around in fear that the turbulence will knock me over! (And no, I didn't spill anything on anyone though I ALMOST fell on top of a guy today when some heavy bumps came about.)

So I feel confident, but I know I still have things to learn. But all in all, YAY FOR ME!!!!!

Skeleton Gig

A humourous video... a little something to make you laugh.

Tomorrow, not Today

Apparently I don't know how to read calendars, and once I read something one time, I don't go back to re-read anything to make sure I know what I'm talking about.

My first flight is TOMORROW. Not today. TOMORROW.

So a whole other day to freak out. Great.

I'm a total crack face.

Eeeeeek!

Tomorrow is my first shift!!! Four whole days of Flight Attendanting starting tomorrow! I'm nervous, but excited... but nervous. I know that I know my stuff, but it's just nerve racking to have to put it all to use all of a sudden!!!

I hope I do okay!

Know any good jokes to tell the peeps on the plane?

No more heat, and I'm really freaking glad...

...though I'm sad there's no more Kristen and Jordan. I really enjoyed chillin, illin, and keeping it gangsta real with them. It was great, so thanks to them for making things wicked awesome.

Now it's Vancouver with Steph. So far it's been great. On Friday, I think we might go shop a bit in Seattle. That will be fun. I'm stoked for the weather, since it's not 42 degrees outside like it was in a certain city yesterday. It IS raining, but at this point, I'll take anything as long as it's not causing me to be a vapour version of myself, as I was yesterday and the two days previous to that.

More updates later. For now, I'm in van city, and tomorrow I'm going synagogue!!! (for some kind of graduation thingy for Steph's brother, no I'm not a real live jew now, much to my dismay, I'm just going for kicks!)

The heat, my god, THE HEAT

It's really really hot. I mean REALLY hot. I can't even stand it. I couldn't even blow dry my hair all the way this morning, because I almost passed out from the HEAT. It's really really hot.

Oh, it's super great to see Kristen and Jordan. They're doing very well, and enjoying my company (I think.) Tonight we're going to have a NICE sushi dinner compliments of mum. (Thanks!!!)

I think part of today's activities will be the purchase of a fan.

The heat. It's killing me.

Travelling the world!!!!

Well, maybe just a bit of Canada.

I'm going to Ottawa tomorrow! And then, if it all works out, I'll be going to Vancouver on Wednesday! Then back to Calgary on Saturday!

Wooooooo Weeeeeee! Can't WAIT to see Kristen! Yay!

I think that's enough exclamation marks for one post.

SO Close

Well, I'm not too far away from being a real live flight attendant! I passed my final exam, so I'm *basically* in the clear. I still have a bit of first aid, going up in a crazy plane and then my "follow-up flight" left before I'm totally fully a flight attendant. But hopefully I don't mess anything up too badly and then I'm good to go!! Can you even stand it?

I'm hoping to plan a little trip next week, potentially to Vancouver and then to Ottawa, so I'll finally take advantage of my flight privileges! How fun!

That's really all I have to say... I got in trouble from a certain someone for not updating my blog enough, so I'm trying!!! OK?

I got my glasses today. Sexy pictures to follow.

Weekend = Not as boring as originally anticipated

As the title indicated, my weekend wasn't really as boring as I thought it would be. I bought a new tv (and by I, I mean my mum but I carried it) for the kitchen since our precious yellow one died. Then I chilled with Linda and watched movies and drank Starbuck's. Then I saw one of my best friends from high school who I haven't seen in almost 5 years, which was AWESOME... Though the evening ended with slightly more excitement than I had anticipated (not in a dirty way... I'll tell the story some other time). And then I chilled with some work people, and today I have to bake some muffins and study.

Upon re-reading that, it really wasn't chock-full of entertainment, but a lot less boring than the dullsville I had imagines.

Tomorrow I start my very last week of training. I already have my schedule for June, and it takes me to a lot of fun places (and a lot of not fun places too) but unfortunately no overnights in Ottawa. I think I'll plan a trip out there before I start... I have 4 or 5 days off after training and before my first shift, so I think I'll try fanangle something for then. I AM however going to Vegas and Orlando, though no overnights. Still, that's pretty cool.

So tomorrow I have my final, and I'm not really too sure why but we have to wear our uniforms, so Kirsten, I'll show up at your place all decked out. (I actually died a little bit thinking about eating dinner with my pants pulled almost to my breasts. I think I'll bring a change of clothes and change in the car before I get there.)

And I realized that I actually have 4 days left... I somehow got confused, so I'm still done on Saturday, but I have another day in there somewhere. It's all good... I'm still done soon!

Wish me luck!

Dullsville

My life is kind of boring. Well today it is. Now that most of my friends are not in Calgary anymore and the ones who are work almost every single day, I feel like I'm sitting around doing nothing. I do have a pretty action packed life when I'm working/training, but these five days off are KILLING ME! I thought I'd be so happy to just chill, but chilling alone isn't really that fun. *Sigh*

Yesterday I picked out new glasses. They are expensive. The combination of an extremely strong prescription and extremely picky me makes for very expensive glasses. I'm stoked for them though. I think I'll get them on Tuesday. That's something to look forward to.

I only have three days left of training. Tuesday is my final exam, Thursday is when we learn how to use the dephibrilator (can't spell that), and Saturday we go up in a plane and do rolly rapid descents and wobbles and fishtailing etc. FUN. Then I'm done. I'm a real live Flight Attendant. Crazy.

So that's what's going on with me right now... kinda bored, kinda relaxing, kinda wishing I had more of a life... Stay tuned for an "after" shot of me in my uniform pants... they really aren't as bad, though still quite horrific. I don't feel SO nasty in them, and they don't double as parachutes, though I still am not wild about them.

Anyone who's doing something great this weekend, call me!

How do we know summer is (kinda sorta) here?

Because I have a sunburn.

Summer is NEVER summer without me having at least 3 terribly horrific sunburns.

I inevitably forget to put my SPF45 on some part of my body (though yesterday I only put it on my arms, don't ask me why, and even still I have a burn on them, so really what was the point?)

These pictures don't really do it justice, but here's a little something to make you giggle. (And point and laugh)

Bye Steph! *Sniff Sniff*

So today ends the legacy that is Heather and Steph. She goes back to Vancouver, then to Montreal then to Camp then to London (with a day in Calgary in there somewhere, oh yeah and some time somewhere else), where she will stay, for a long long long time. I can't even get into it, because I'll get really really sad and no one likes it when I cry, because I rarely cute cry, it's normally ugly crying like what happened at the wedding and I hence ruined the video because all you can hear is "sniff sniff, wipe my nose which makes my bangles bangle and then all you can hear is bangling", so I won't get into it.

But I WILL say, Steph, I'll miss you a lot, and thanks for having me stay at your place for the past while so we could chill, even though as SOMEONE likes to remind me every five minutes that I didn't pay rent, but oh, I paid my rent in love, caringness, letting you laugh at me in my uniform, and doing the dishes after I eat!

I'll come visit soon (I hope!) and you're the greatest. I'm going to miss you a lot a lot!

And thanks to you, I have a new photo face. (It's my tribute to you really, AND I don't have chins in as many pics anymore!)

Facebook and Beers

So apparently all the cool kids are on facebook. I'm still not exactly sure what it is, but I'm on it. I think it's a way of seeing how many friends you have... So far I'm up to 4. Wooo weee four friends. Can someone explain what it is? And if you know, add me so I don't look so pathetic next to Steph's 548930584309568 friends.

Tonight I went for beers. With Steph and some Flight Attendant friends. (The lack of writing skills is because of the beers. How nice to drink beers and not have to worry about getting up at 6:00 to go to class/training/school tomorrow since I have the DAY OFF!)

I'm very much looking forward to sleeping in, though I still have to go to the airport to get some security pass... apparently it's important to get a security pass... who knew??

Good news of today? I am no longer makiing a pitiful 7$ an hour for training, but over triple!!! Our salary got re-negociated so we get our salary for training, so as of May first I'm no longer a pverty stricken trainee!!! (side note, I realize that isn't ACTUALLY poverty stricken, but it feels like it.)

That is all, I'm going to bed, sleep off the beers.

But I'm still on a high for not crying through the drill... I rocked that drill like nobody's business.

Did it!

So I did a drill, on a plane, with the lights off, with the sound track playing screaming and stuff... and I totally rocked it out! WOOOOOOOOO!

On a side note, my palms hurt from opening so many doors all day. Those damn plane doors are HEAVY!

Fire!!!

Yesterday I finally got my chance with the fire. A shed with gasoline (or some kind of fuel) seeping into what used to be an airline chair was where I had my debut as a firefighting machine!

I cried out "I have a fire in the overhead bin! Inform the captain and get me backup!", tore off that witness wire, whipped out that pin, aimed at the base and swept that extinguisher side to side with gusto! I then slowly backed away, never once turning my back on the now smouldering seat frame.

It was a rush (though slightly less exciting than I had hoped). Hopefully I won't forget what to do when/if the time ever comes! I think someone may have gotten a picture, so if I ever get my hands on it, you KNOW I'll be showing you!

So if you ever have any fires, just call me up and I'll be right over, because I am now trained with LIVE firefighting!

Freaking Out

So today I kind of lost it...

We're doing "emergency drills". Planned and unplanned land and water evacuations. Not really uplifting material to start with, but I can deal with that.

What I can't deal with are the actual drills. (Drill = Us doing what we would actually be doing if we were evacuating an aircraft. We have a set "script" of what we say scream to get people out asap).

We watch videos of people doing drills, and all the while my eyes are welling up with tears, and I'm pretty much loosing it. Then when people in our class did live drills tears were streaming down my face. I'm seriously freaking out.

I'm scared that I won't be able to do it.

What scares me more is that I'm a super outgoing person who is never scared to take control of a situation. So why am I petrified that I will not be able to do this? I am absolutely terrified that I will cry or panic or freeze and be responsible for these people with mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters and children not getting out of the aircraft alive.

After class I talked to my instructor and in about four seconds I was sobbing. She said that she was surprised that I made it to day 6, because for her she lost it on day four, when we watched the video with interviews with survivors of aircraft fires where almost everyone died. She said she cried and cried in front of the whole class, and almost quit. I was honestly feeling like that today, because if I can't do these drills effectively, I can't be a flight attendant. And I really don't know if I can do them.

I felt reassured by what she told me, and how she told me I should ask those around me to remind me of situations where I HAVE taken control and gotten out of sticky situations. She said that I shouldn't hide my feelings from anyone, especially myself... And that it's commendable that I'm seeing it and coming to her for help. She also told me that she had no doubt in her mind that I would be able to get through it, and that I'd be ok. She said that if I cry the whole way through my first drill, it's okay, and I just need to try again. She also said it shows that I'm a good person, and that I'm concerned for these people, and not looking at it like a drill. What I don't get is when I'm watching a video on a fake plane with no actual passengers on it I'm freaking out about me not doing it. It's all hypothetical. So why am I freaking out??????

If I somehow make it through the "unplanned" landings, which means we have no warning of the emergency landing until it happens, so we really don't ever have to see any of the passengers until we're telling them to cross their arms and jump and slide, my next hurdle is the "planned" landings, where we have about 30 minutes warning, so we stand in the cabins and stare at the passengers while the captain announces that we're having an emergency landing, and I'm the one who is supposed to guide them through and reassure them we'll all be okay. I'm the one who assigns duties, and talks to the people sitting next to people who need more help, like mothers with infants and unaccompanied minors. How can I stand there and keep it together? What can I do to dissociate myself? I really don't know.

I'm scared. I'm overwhelmed. And I cry anytime anyone shouts. And I have to shout. A lot.

Week one done!

I finished my first week of training... only three more to go!

I had three exams, simulated the putting up of the life raft (which is HUGE by the way), went in a fake plane, and learned about a bagillion things. People should feel VERY safe when flying! Seriously... they call us "safety professionals"!

Monday, I get to fight a real live fire!!!

That's about all I've got.

Goal for tomorrow: Find someone to do something about those pants.

Notice where the sleeves end and where the pants begin. *Note that these are not abnormally long sleeves.

I honestly don't even know what to say about this picture. It really makes me want to die inside.

The most important lesson learned today:

There is absolutely no rule (or law for that matter) prohibiting the joining of the mile high club.

Go Flames Go

So last night we decided that after a day full of drinking, chinese food, a dance break (pictured below), napping with eyes open and watching the game (seriously, we were on Steph's patio by 2:30 drinking drinks until about 5:25, then chinese food then open eye napping and game watching) that we should head on down to the Red Mile (and by we I mean us sans Steph because she seriously wouln't have made it). When the Red Mile was "founded", I was in St. Isidore nannying, so I missed all the hoopla. So I had my first Red Mile experience and it was actually pretty fun! There were lots of POlice making sure girls didn't flash anyone (though Elliot managed to see one pair) and making sure there wasn't any public drinking (I think they must have missed the guy with a beer bong and a backpack full of beers). Other than that, it was a good time had by all, and it was a great way of celebrating the end of my degree and my new job!

Highest pants EVER!

So I get to wear these fab pants... They sit three ever-so-painful inches above my belly button. Seriously. Above. The. Belly. Button.

Then, I get to tuck my shirt into them. Shirt tucked in, three inches above my belly button.

So basically, I have a neck, boobs, and then a very very long crotch. Then, after you continue looking downwards for about five minutes, I have legs.

Luckily, I get to "take in the sides" so that I don't look like a parachute.

If I ever thought I had even a trace of an ass, it's gone now, in my gynormous pants that have to be gynormous so that they fit over my stomach therefore I could easily fit five of my asses into the ass part.

So all in all, the uniform was a big hit. (Actually, the shirt is quite nice, and it actually makes me look half decent... Too bad only a few inches of it shows since the rest is tucked into my pants.)

I also get to wear a vest or sweater (which luckily covers most of the foot long crotch I now have due to the pants mentioned above.)

Also, there is a LANYARD (pronounced "layunyerd") with a quick release at the back of the neck in case people pull on it in a threatening manner. Seriously. The scary thing is, this is a newly implemented rule. So there must be reasons why it was implemented. Crazy.

The best part is the lunch kit. Oh, how I love lunch kits.

Too much all at the same time

As you can see by the title, I have too much going on all at the same time. I have one more paper to write, three more exams to study for and take, get to a whole bunch of new job realted appointmests to make sure I'm not crazy and fit a uniform, and also organize my life in general.

I can't wait until this week is over... so that I can start to enjoy the things that are going on!!!

Shut Up!

I got the job!

Last day...

Tomorrow is my last day of classes.

LAST DAY OF CLASSES.

Woah.

I don't know if I'll be posting TOO much in the next little while. I'm housesitting for a little while and I'll probably be busy. Though I will be writing papers, which means procrastination. So maybe.

But I will post BSD pics when I can. OOoooooh they'll be good.

Day of Hell is Over

Today was pretty much a day of hell.

But it's over. (Though I DID get the purple test of death again... The white and yellow tests are not as difficult as the purple test of death.)

Now I just have to finish up a paper due on Wednesday, and then it's BSD! I've never looked forward to a day of standing around in a field drinking so much! And this yeah I'll actually be wearing Bermuda Shorts! Imagine that! (though they're cute trendy Bermuda Shorts... Courtesy of Katie... How I fit into her shorts is another question altogether though.)

So that is that. I have a few days of rest, then the final sprint!!! And then it's ALL OVER.

Extreme Bad Mood

You know when you're just pissed off for not reason? Well that is me. Right now.

The started very well. Went to Nellie's in Kensington with Steph and Elliot (who I spent almost every waking hour with this weekend... I might as well BE them at this point), had a nice little walk from their place over there, ate on the patio, had a nice little walk back... really absolutely nothing to complain about.

Got home. Extreme Bad Mood began.

Decided to start studying for my exam tomorrow. Why on earth would a teacher put something as STUPID on an exam as matching titles of stories (which we HAVEN'T EVEN READ) with their authors???? Is this really important? Do we have nothing more to offer than this? Is THIS what the whole point of the course is? How stupid. Re-damn-diculous.

I decided to start the short little paper thing that's due tomorrow. I can't write it. I don't get the story. Why do I have to do this? It's stupid.

Finished up my stupid presentation. I have nothing intelligent to say about this right now. NOTHING. Why do I have to present the topic of my final paper? Do my classmates give two shits about what my paper is about? Because, no offense to my classmates, I couldn't care less about what they're writing about. What a waste of time. It's stupid.

Then I decided to wash the stupid muffin tins from Steph and my baking extravaganza on Friday. (and by "I decided", I actually mean got SO FED UP with my mother reminding me that I have to wash them because I still live at home that I flipping washed them.) It took me a LONG TIME. How could muffin tins that have been soaking in a sink of water for the last two days STILL BE HARD TO CLEAN?????? Because they are stupid.

I am clearly in a mood. A bad one. I would normally fill the void with ice cream or something deliciously fatty, but I'm full (from the breakfast). I want need some Starbuck's right now. That perhaps might calm me down. But I don't live at a Starbuck's, therefore I would have to go out to get it. And I don't feel like it.

I better get out of this funk before 7:30 or 8:00, because at that time I am going to Katie's house with Sarah and Vaness to make our BSD t-shirts. BSD is fun. T-shirts are fun. Making them is fun. So PLEASE PLEASE go away mood so that I can have fun. PLUS BSD T-shirt making day was when the all-time best quote ever was said. "Kristen, I wanna stay up and drink with the giiiiiiiirrrrrrrllllllllsssssssssss". Jordan, wanna come make BSD T-shirts with us? That would probably cheer me up.

Rant over. Hopefully this is the worst my mood will get.

So far this Saturday has been a lot more productive than last Saturday

Last Saturday, I was a heap on the couch.

This Saturday, so far I have:
  • Woken up early and wrote some of my paper.
  • Showered. (Which is WAY more than I can say about last week)
  • Played Ultimate Frizbee at the Jewish Centre (because I'm such a Jew) with Steph and Elliot and a few other people.
  • Organized myself for my exam on Monday.
  • OK I MIGHT have chilled on the couch for a while, but I feel like I deserve it since I was so productive.
Later, I hope to:
  • Visit with Mo and her baby!
  • Go bowling
  • Relax and NOT think about my papers and tests.
I feel like I am great because I am keeping up with my assignments (relatively speaking) without loosing my mind and also having time to have a life, hang out with my friends and not be a hermit.

Celeb crush of the week

Really, how could you not love George Stroumboulopoulos, host of the hour on CBC. He is "bad boy sexy" and quite smart too. The fact that he's Canadian doesn't hurt either. He came here a couple of months ago, but by the time I got my act together the tickets were all sold out. Instead, I can just watch him, channel 15, 6:00pm. He's good. You should watch.

Quit playing games with my... mind?

So I just got a phone call from the company I am currently DYING to work for. They called to ask me two more behavioural based questions. So I answered them to the best of my ability, though they were HARD. Very hard.

So I'm feeling kind of medium about that. It's a bad thing because I obviously am "on the cusp" of the group... I didn't blow them away and I'm not a "for sure" hire, yet it's a good thing because I obviously didn't BOMB the whole thing, and they want to know more before making a decision. Unless they're just doing this to make me feel better about myself before they tell me I didn't get the job. I really don't know what to think.

The only good thing about this whole situation is that she said "I'm putting your file back in the recruitment pile and you should hear from us in the very near future". So at least I know I won't be in agony for too much longer.

Marketplace

On Sunday night my mum and I sat down to watch Marketplace on CBC. It was a repeat episode that talked about carcinogens, and how they are present in products we use day to day. (Carcinogen, according to the dictionary, is "a substance that produces cancer".) I wasn't aware of this, but companies don't have to list all the ingredients in products, so most don't list the "bad ones". For example, those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have formaldehyde in them. Sunlight Laundry Detergent has a different carcinogen - this one is listed on the box, though not many people KNOW that it's a cancer causing agent.

SO, with the help of Linda and a little sleuthing of my own, here is the link to a list of cosmetics that have known carcinogens in them. Here's an other link to a list of some carcinogens. The weird thing is that some of the same products are available in Europe but WITHOUT the carcinogens, because they have been banned. So why wouldn't the company just make all of their products without carcinogens instead of making half with and half without?

I'm no scientist, and I really don't know much about all these kinds of things, but to me, if we're consuming things that have KNOWN cancer causing agents in them, this is a problem.

Today, one in two people will get cancer. 50%. That's HUGE. And yes, lots has to do with drinking, smoking, not exercising and all the rest, but not all of it. Some really healthy people get cancer, and they can't understand why. Perhaps it's because they use a certain brand of blush, or toothpaste, or laundry detergent. It's not good that none of us KNOW these things are in our products. Things need to change, in my opinion. So there are my two cents about the issue.

So apparently, this is my 100th post

I wish I some incredibly exciting story to share on this momentous post. But I don't.

I have a VERY busy two weeks of school coming up, but then, dare I say it, I am finished. It's sort of odd, since I've been counting the days all semester, impatiently waiting the end, and now I wish I had an extra month to finish everything. But I will finish. Oh yes, I will get 'er done.

So, time to post something fun. An ode to 100 posts worth of embarassing pictures. To all those who are on this mosaic and didn't want to be, you should know better than to let someone who has a blog take your picture.

Uuuunnnnhhhhhh...

You know when you're so hungover that you say you'll never ever drink again? Well I've had that happen to me once before when I had an unfortunate run in with red wine and a drinking game, and I actually didn't drink for about 4 or 5 months, (and I STILL can't drink red wine) then I slowly started to be physically able to consume alcohol.

Well, I have a feeling I have done that to myself again. Firday night was fun. Lots and lots of fun. Saturday was NOT fun. I slept until 11 ish, woke up, had breakfast, and thought to myself "wow I'm not hungover at all!" Well, I went to the couch, turned on the tv, and did not get up from it until 8:00 (except once to throw up profusely). I pretty much felt like death, with a side of revoltingness. That was NOT fun. Not fun at all. I seriously doubt that I'll drink for a long time, though I will make one exception, and that is for BSD, since I've been looking forward to it since last BSD. It's dumb, rediculous, and so immature, but it's my LAST YEAR OF UNIVERSITY and I deserve to be dumb, rediculous and immature one last time. But seriously, I doubt if I'll even be ABLE to drink, because typing the word DRINK and thinking about consuming one drop of alcohol is making my stomach churn and I'm seriously wondering if I'm going to throw up right now. Oh gross.

Oh and Katie wasn't even there, so I'm the drunky that you can allllll make fun of this time!

Behold the amazing camera skills of Drunky McDrunkerson at about 2:57 am

Special Birthday Edition of Foto Friday

This is Vanessa and me circa 2003 at our staff party... Sorry about such an old one Vaneesh but I figured you'd rather this one than some of the OTHER ones I have of you... And plus I haven't taken any pictures decent pictures of the two of us in a while. In most of the other ones I have, I have chins, and you know how I feel about my chins.

ANYWAYS, Happy Birthday Vaneesh! I love you tons! You're the bestest best friend a girl could have... All together now, AWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Hopefully after tonight I'll have more pictures and then I'll post some SLIGHTLY more recent ones. It'll be a shit show for sure! With Vanessa, it always always is! Happy Birthday Babe!

So much going on...

I don't have too much time, but I'll give y'all a quick update on the interview since I know you're all a-tingle with anticipatory delight.

There were at least 20 people there, one guy and the rest girls. There were about 6 or 7 interviewers, two being flight attendants themselves, a few recruiters, and some other people who are important. It started out with introductions and a bit about WestJet, then we split into groups and did a whole bunch of group activities, meanwhile they pulled each one of us out to do a quick one on one interview. The woman who interviewed me was SUPER nice and made it really easy to be relaxed and not feel all anxious. Then we came back into the big group and the flight attendants told us more about the actualy position and how things work.

I think I did well. I smiled lots, made eye contact, listened to what the other people had to say, said enough for myself, and hopefully I was fabulous enough to impress them. It's really hard to say whether I "out shone" everyone else. I also had to write them an e-mail today to tell them why I want the position again. So I did that, hopefully impressed them. I tried to take things that we learned yesterday and incorporate them into what I said.

The job sounds SO appealing, and I really really really hope I get it. I think I'll be pretty disappointed if I don't get it, just because I feel like I'd be really good at it, and it would be something fun and exciting and new. Although, they told us that they get 1800-2000 applications per week, so the fact that I got invited to an interview does say a lot.

I think it will be up to three weeks before I hear anything, so I'll be anxiously awaiting the result. I'm pretty sure they send out an e-mail, and then they phone later to invite us to a training sessions. (They are 4 weeks long, and the next one starts April 24th, three days after my last exam).

So we shall see. We shall see.

More Band Geekiness

That last post was very gushy... But it was because I was still in the "moment" of it all. After seeing that, I remember why I started to "do" music. People always asked me what made me start, and why it was such a huge part of my life. Since I was 9 years old, music has been a part of my life. Once I got into junior high, I was in 3 bands, then in high school, I was in 4 and sometimes even 5. (yeah yeah, I know I know, geeksville). I played a whole bunch of instruments and I think almost a different one in each band, I had so much music in my folder it was held together with duck tape. I was usually at school from 7:20 until 5 or 3:30 every day of the week, I had sore lips and sore arms, had to drag percussion equipment across the school twice a day, sacrificed many weekends to "band camp" aka doing marching drills and rehearsal after rehearsal for three days straight, had to deal with our poor, frustrated teacher who had to deal with US, had to try to impress the aforementioned Tyler, who had this totally cool guy air about him, walking around with his whole "I'm a musician" vibe which made us swoon over and over again... then horribly disappointing him, even after he took us out for a fancy dinner to "show us some culture".

THEN, I had to deal with probably the hardest thing that I've ever had to deal with when it comes to band, and that is praise. I am not about to brag about this and that, but I was talented, and I guess other people saw that in me. You'd think I'd love that kind of attention, since I do in other parts of my life, but the music praise was tough for me. Getting attention from our guest directors and clinicians at festivals was the worst, (even though it meant the most) because I had to sit there, with the rest of my band, and listen to people offer me full ride scholarships to their universities or asking me if I was a professional and just sitting in for this high school band. All I remember about those kind of situations is the guilt that I felt, since I was getting this attention and the rest of the people in my band weren't, even though some were equally and more talented than I. I wish I could have appreciated it more, but all I felt was embarassment and horrible horrible guilt.

So, going back to the question of why I did music, why I sacrificed so much for it. I never used to have an answer for people, especially my non band classmates when they would ask me why I'm in stupid band as I'm wheeling a marimba after rehearsal across the packed foyer before regular classes started. I used to say "the trips" or "because I like it I guess"... but those never really explained it. But after last night, I remembered a moment that I had, in my very last band festival I ever performed, during this particular song. I got the shivers, and they didn't go away for a few minutes. My OWN playing, along with the rest of the band, gave me the shivers. That is why I did it all. And last night, I got the shivers so many times, and it made me remember all the moments like that. Seeing Tyler's face during certain moments, knowing the kind of feeling he was having... I remember that feeling.

After the concert I got a chance to talk to him, which was great. He remembered be, we chatted about this and that, I told him I wasn't doing too much music stuff now since I didn't have time with school, and he asked me "do you miss it?" and I instantly, without even thinking about my words said "oh yeah... I miss it tons". So I guess I miss it, a lot. We chatted a bit more, he talked about how he really misses our group from high school, then almost died when he realized how long ago it was that he taught us, invited me to go for a drink though I couldn't because I had to work early today, so we decided that we would go another night, to catch up... It's weird thinking that I'm kind of a grown-up now, and I can "go for drinks" with the guy I always wished I could go for drinks with in high school. But seeing the performance, seeing Tyler, seeing his moments, made me remember all of mine. And it made me remember why I did it.

Dude...(Major Band Geek Moment)

I can't even explain how freaking amazing this thing I saw tonight was. My old percussion instructor from high school Tyler Hornby had a gig at the university with his band, and I dragged Linda to go see it with me. I'm seriously speechless... I miss music so much I realize... I kept looking over at Linda in the performance "holy shit that was SICK" and she'd stare at me blankly and say "yes, it was very nice." Just how freaking amazing they all were, I can't believe it. He looked pretty fine too... There's just something about musicians!

A little too much YouTube for me

I found another pretty funny one... this time courtesy of Dee and then myself.

Finger Breakdancing

I got this link from kottke.org and it was too funny not to share. Damn that's funny.

Gotta Love Thursdays!

To me, Thursday means sleep in, one class, and a nice relaxing evening. I love Thursdays.

Today, I slept in until 9 something (when the cats woke me up to be fed... Carol, I hate you for making your cats hungry this early in the morning.) I started and finished my Spanish presentation that is tomorrow (like I said, the procrastination is getting out of hand), and then decided to go to the mall. You see, since the wedding day, I've been searching my mum's and dad's houses frantically for my favourite maroon TNA hoodie. I wore it to the hairdresser's, then changed into the dress, then the next day when I went back to get all my stuff it was gone. GONE. My theory is that Kristen took it home with her by accident and now she is keeping it because she is jealous of my amazing fashion, and really, how would I ever know since I don't see her... In three years I'll be looking at her pictures and she'll be wearing it in every one. Or maybe the house hippos got it. Either way, I'm maroon hoodie-less, and sad.

So today, I went to the mall in search of a new favourite hoodie. I found one, and it's basically the same, but more purple than maroon. I'm not a huge purple person, but the other day I wore this purple tank top and people kept telling me how nice I looked in purple. So, I got a purple hoodie. (I wonder if I said purple enough... PURPLE!) I also got a green t-shirt, because a girl can never have too much green.

I also bought my mum her birthday present, even though it's almost a week late. I was looking for this one specific thing and only found it today.

I decided that I didn't feel like going to class (see above comment about the whole getting out of hand thing, but replace procrastination with laziness) so I came home, watched ellen, made perogies, and chilled. All in all, a good day!

Job?

Good News: I have an interview with WestJet next Wednesday

Bad News: It's a GROUP interview

Good News: I speak French, and they like that

Bad News: I didn't know how to say "turbulance" in French on the phone, thus making me sound kinda dumb since I said "ohmygosh I don't know how to say turbulance" when they asked me to translate a sentence into French

Good News: If I DO get hired, my flight priviledges are effective the first day of training (aka any flight westjet does for about $25)

Bad News: No buddy passes until after three months (along with shares and benefits)

Good News: I have an interview

Bad News: I might not get the job...

We'll just have to wait and see!!

I wish...

...that I had some mini eggs right now.

I have some sitting on my counter, but alas, I decided NOT to bring them to work today and I am living to regret that decision.

If you aren't me, my mother, or my sister, you might be bored to tears

Today, I got to rub elbows with the pairs and ice dancers who are competing in World Championships. My mum and I went today for a few hours to watch them all practice at the saddledome and at the corral. How cool was it to sit in the second row, right behind all their coaches, and watch them UP CLOSE doing their thing... It was wicked.

At the Olympics, Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon were favoured to do quite well, but Marie-France fell majorly during the move in the picture... She hurt her hip pretty badly and they had to withdraw from the competition. So, we were all waiting with bated breath to see if she'd be okay to compete in the World Championships. Well, today I saw her perform the very spinny tossy holdy thing that made her fall, and she looked great! So you can all breath a sigh of relief, because they WILL be competing.

Megan Wing and Aaron Lowe apparently have been skating together for about 15 years, and have never quite made it to the top, but they're really good and seem like cool people (I smiled at Aaron Lowe today when he walked by me and he made eye contact... we're now best friends), and it was cool to see them today.

I also saw the canadian pairs and the other pairs and ice dancers... Some french chick was sitting beside me for about 15 minutes, and we ALL know how great of an eavesdropper I am (aka I have to be staring at them to hear what they're saying) so I'm sure she was kind of pissed off after the first 5 mintues of gawking and then me not looking away even after getting a death stare. Oh well... there were way more hardcore fans than us there... People were asking people for autographs and wore iron on shirts with people's pictures on them.

Too bad I have to go to school this week, otherwise I could use my mum's passes to EVERY SINGLE EVENT when she's working and go see them! I guess I'll just have to watch on TV and look for mum!

Sympathy

Yesterday I learned that there is an elementary school in Calgary that closed yesterday due to a rotting roof or something like that. Apparently the school knew that the roof was in danger of collapsing for a while, but didn't decide to do anything about it until now. I'm not really clear on the details so if I got that wrong, meh.

But the real reason I'm posting about this is because the students had to be moved to other schools... which schools? Well, half of the school went to my dad's school. SO, here is me, reaching out to my dad and saying "It's okay!" I'm imagining him today at school rescheduling all the PE and Music times, trying to shuffle around classrooms, find room for all the extra students and teachers, trying to discipline after recess when the bully from his school met the bully from the other school, trying to find the balance between his staff and the other staff... It doesn't seem like too much fun.

Papa I hope you don't have a heart attack, stroke, anurism, ulcer, and I hope your blood pressure doesn't sky rocket! I love you! You can make it through the week!!! This is when you say "re-LAX... re-LAX..." and then laugh at me doing jazz fingers in front of your face.

Don't know how to title it so I will call it "Ma Cuisine!"

Today I went on a date. Me. A date.

Even though I almost turned around and didn't go when I was just about there, I persevered ALL the way to the top of the stairs and decided that it would be horrific to a) have given this guy the wrong phone number (by accident) the first time around and b) to then stand him up. Why did I almost change my mind and not go? Not too sure, but I was seriously SO nervous... how lame.

Anyways, the date was good, the guy was sweet, and I didn't eat too quickly (like I always do)... I actually was slow because we were TALKING... imagine that. Talking during a meal.

I don't really want to go on and on, so I won't. But it was fun, I didn't feel weird, it wasn't akward, and I (hopefully) didn't embarass myself or make him go "seriously what's up with this chick". So all in all, mission accomplished.

What a weekend...

I don't even know where to start.

Friday, went out. Fun had by all.

Saturday, went out for Marla's birthday to the Whiskey, then stayed at Steph's. At that point, I was thinking "woah, I had a busy weekend, I'm tired and hungover, ready to chill at home."

So around 8:45 pm on Sunday, I'm watching Grey's Anatomy, and I get a call from my girl Katie and she's called an emergency "meeting" with rum and cokes, and that there are boy troubles. (PS: Ryan, you are scum and if I see you again you better run.)

So I figure I should stay over... So I pack my school stuff, a pair of clean underwear, and I'm off to pick up Sarah.

We get to Katies, the rum and cokes are ready, Linda comes, then we decided that Katie needs to get out of the house. So we put on our "outfits" and wander over to Moose McGuire's for some drinks. Weeeelllllll, paralysers were on special... So we took advantage.

After a stop at Mac's to get beef jerky and a Penthouse (Katie, seriously, what's up with that?) we went home, crashed at her house, woke up, stumbled to class, and that was that. It was quite the day, but what are girlfriends for??

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment... I'll leave it up to you to imagine the looks we got from the others in the bar.

Blogging?  From my desktop?

So with my new computer, I'm discovering new things everyday.  For anyone with a MAC, you know about the "dashboard".  It's this little thingy that you can ask to come up that has a whole bunch of little shortcut buttons and fun things.  On mine, I have a claculator, a calendar, a weather forecast, a converter (for currency or measuring things), a post-it note and an iTunes play/skip doodle.  The other day, I was dinking around on the MAC website, and realized that you can download MORE options for your dashboard.  SO, now I have 3 new ones.  And etch-a-sketch, which gives me hours of entertainment (though I could never compare to Kirsten's art work), an iPhoto mini thing (which I'm only medium about...) and a blogger post thing.  So on the Dashboard, I sign in, and voila a blogging square thing pops up and I can blog without even opening an internet browser!  I don't get any fun options, but seriously, this is cool!  Anyway, I'm going to find out what other crazy things I can download on to my dashboard, though I'm running out of room...

Have a good Saturday... if all goes well tonight, I'll have some CRAZY pictures to show from Marla's birthday tonight!

Foto Friday (and a plea)

Last Friday...

My plea is this: If anyone has any pics of my gorgeous sister and me from the wedding, I'd love to have them. So if you do, I'd love it if you could e-mail them to me. (I'm assuming we know each other so you'll have my e-mail address.) Thanks!

Post for the sake of posting

It's Tuesday...
  • I'm at work...
  • I have class
  • I'm going to Kirsten's for dinner
  • Amazing Race is on
That's about all for Tuesday.

My weekend was pretty good... It started out with me working (blech) but then Vaness and Katie met me at work and we made our way down to the den for a "drink or two" (read: I had my toothbrush and contact solution already at Katie's because I would be staying at her place). Anyways, the three of us had some Cajun Fries (drool) and some hi-ball pitchers... Later Jackie-from-the-equipment-room met up with us and she invited some of her (CUTE) friends... (well one of them was cute). And we all hung out and stuff... I don't really know what else to say about the evening except that I perhaps possibly might see one of them again... maybe. (The cute one...)

I'm weird.

My Mother...

... is always right.

Even when it comes to French verbs.

How can she, who hasn't taken French in 30 years, (30 YEARS!!!), still remember when to accord the direct object pronoun, and I, who have taken French for the last 17 years of my life, be absolutely certain that I DON'T accord the past participle to the direct object pronoun in this sentence and BE WRONG??

Will I only begin to "master" this language when I'm 53 years old helping my kids with their stupid online exams because their prof is too lazy to mark them herself?

How infuriating!

The moral of the story: My mother is always right.

Update: My mum just gave me her French Grammar book from when she was in Switzerland in 1969 and told me to look in there for the rules on according the participles. It was published in 1968, but as she says "Grammar doesn't change, Heather". True. However, I am curious to see what was written on pages 93 and 94 that were removed due to "la censure qui exist en Suisse".

K, the fact that Mum doesn't throw anything out comes in handy once in a while.

Me vuelvo folle!

Do you wanna know what's really hard? Writing a Spanish presentation about French authors from French sources.

Do you wanna know what's going to be even harder? Presenting said presentation, in Spanish, while saying French names and French quotes, then switching back to Spanish to finish the sentence.

This is what I get for majoring in two different laguages. I KNEW that one day, the two would collide and my life as I knew it would cease to exist.

Aye carumba y je suis donc tannée!

Wherin I spare you from my dirty dirty mouth

My day has been eventful. Not in a good way though.

It started with a sleep in, which was nice... I got to wake up on my own, I made myself a latte, then went downstairs to get some homework done. Nice, and relaxing. Not for long.

Spilled my ENTIRE coffee... Shit. I managed to miss my own computer (thank goodness) but got it ALL over my mum's keyboard and the floor. Luckily, I had a bunch of papers resting on the keyboard, so it didn't totally soak it, but definitely got it wet. The string of swears that came out of my mouth was enough to make a sailor blush... So I grabbed my robe (since it was sitting beside me) and tried to wipe it up... anyways, after a lot of cleaning, the keyboard is just lying upside down hoping that the coffee will just drip out, and the carpet is doused in vinegar with a towel on it. I decided to re-arrange our computer table so that I can avoid this situation in the future. I was pissed.

So I get ready to go (after making myself a new cup of coffee to bring with me), remember that I have to put on my new license plate, so I go out, and fumble around with it for a while, my legs getting tired, hands freezing to the plate, I'm not really happy about it.

Decide to go up to my dad's before school so that I can look for my hoodie that I can't seem to find. I go there, look for it, can't find it. Shit. (I decide to help myself to some leftover wedding cake while I'm there, which does brighten my day a little).

Go to school, remember that I forgot my parking pass. Shit. Get yelled at by Lot 10 lady because I only have a $20 bill. SORRY lady that I don't carry enough change to satisfy your needs.

Anyways, since then, my day has been fine... I sat in the racquet centre with Steph, chatted and chilled, sipped my new coffee, laughed at dumb people who came to the counter. (We're not ACTUALLY total bitches, we just get a lot of dumb people.)

I went to the gym, for the first time in a long time, which is slightly embarassing. It was really good... ran for a while, longer than I normally do, did some other stuff, and I left feeling really good and with an extremely red face. Hopefully this will make me get into my groove again and I'll be fit in time for summer.

Hopefully this "better part of the day" continues into the everning, and I'll get loads of homework done and it will be smooth sailing from now until the end of the semester. Hopefully.

No motivation

I know that now that the wedding is over, I'm supposed to focus on school and be really motivated since I have nothing to distract me. But this is not the case. I am very distracted... by everything. And I have no motivation. To do anything.

I've been at work for 7 hours, and I have written 4 sentences of homework. Granted, I have been productive in other ways, but still. 4 sentences. Not good. And tonight is the first Amazing Race episode! AND tuesday night dinner with Kirst and Nathan. So I won't really get much done tonight homework-wise. The scary part is I'm not really too concerned about it. I think it's really time for me to be done school. This is kind of getting out of hand.

To celebrate my lack of caringness for school, I will post fun pictures of Kristen's Bachelorette party.

This Sucks

My sister is leaving. Again. And I don't know when I'll see her again.

The wedding was amazing. I couldn't have had a better time. Well, that's not true. It would have been a lot more fun (and there would have been a lot fewer tears) if I didn't have to say good bye to them both today.

I love Kristen and Jordan so much, and it's really hard to think about what my life will be like without them in it. I know they're not dying, but the fact that I will probably see them once or twice a year is pretty horrible.

I don't really know how to deal with it. I'll try.

Kristen and Jordan's Amazing Race to the Altar

This weekend has had so many elements that I couldn't even begin to tell you every one of them. BUT, the giant surprise bachelor/bachelorette party went very well. The fact that Kristen and Jordan spent the entire night before in the airport just added to the fun! Here are a couple of pics of the race, and more news about the everything later.

Nathan, Lynn and Miriam making their flag. (They were a DNF due to losing a team member!)

Sue, Sandra and Kris making their flag. (Team number 3!)

Jordan searching for Abbey Road in Eau Claire

The winning team getting into a cab, hence allowing for the winning!

Deeds, Rob, Kristen and Chris, the winning team!

Jordan, Kirsten and Steve, Team number 2!

Trying to think of something besides the wedding...

For realsies, I can think of one thing and one thing only. MY SISTER IS GETTING MARRIED IN 9 SLEEPS! I rarely write in all capitals, so you KNOW I'm excited about this!

People at school keep saying "I'll see you after the wedding! You'll have to tell me all about it" and other people around are like "oh my gosh you're getting married??" and I answer in the most excited voice ever "no, but my SISTER is!" and these people look at me like "umm, you're THAT excited about a wedding that's not even your own?"

Well, the answer is YES YES YES I'm THAT excited about a wedding that isn't even my own. Think about it... I get ALL the thrill of the wedding, yet I don't have to BE MARRIED! It's all about the party!!!! And yes, for those who are growing concerned, I DO realize it's not MY day and I won't steal any kind of thunder from Kristen, so don't fret.

I am MORE than happy to sleep-over the night before to keep her sane, to shove food in her mouth so that she doesn't starve and pass out, to tie a bib around her while she's drinking her coffee so that when she spills, it's on her bib and not her dress (yes, WHEN she spills), stand beside her at the altar holding her boquet and a fistfull of kleenex, ready to hand it over if she starts crying, make sure her dress is organized for when she does the walk out with her new husband, and smile pretty for the pictures so that she can look back years to come and remember that I was there, next to her, on HER special day.

So yes, I'm excited.

Monday, February 13, 2006

My mind...

... is not where it should be. I think I have to forget about the whole wedding until Friday, because I have to pull out an amazing paper for Friday... This HAS to be good because my prof pulled the whole "I had such high expectations for you Heather and this doesn't show your potential" card. I hate the guilt trips... Oh well. It'll happen.

And then, after Friday, I'm FREE (for a week) and I get to relax and have fun!

Special Birthday Edition of Foto Friday!

I don't know if it's weird that I'm posting a picture of Jordan on his birthday, because I'm not his fiancee or anything, but I thought since this picture is so great, that I'd post it anyways! (I'll add for his benefit that he isn't actually drunk in this picture, he just did it for my and Kristen's amusement.) Happy Birthday, soon to be Brother-In-Law. If I HAVE to have a brother, I'm glad it's you! You make me laugh lots and lots and I'm excited to chill with you again soon. And you better take good care of my sister, because you don't want to have to deal with the wrath of Heather!! (Remember that time I pushed you really hard when I found out that you proposed to Kristen? That was just a taste of what I'm capable of!) I never really realized how much we used to hang out together, You, Me, Kristen and that other guy, but now that you and Kristen are gone, it's very sad and lonely. I make due... but it will be nice to have you here, even if it's for a short week.

Anyways, Happy Birthday, and I hope to see you double fisting when you're back!

Again?!

I think I am sick. Wasn't I just sick two weeks ago? Yes, yes I was. I'm hacking like an 80 year old smoker, and I feel really tired. (I actually just took a little nap here at work... I'm lucky that no one caught me!) My mum says that it's because I was "out galavanting till all hours of the night" this weekend, but I felt FINE this weekend! I felt fine all week before! What's going on now that I'm coughing like crazy and falling asleep everytime I try to study for my exam that's in 6 and a half hours?

I really hope it isn't anything serious... because I have a HUGE few weeks coming up. This is lame. Someone come over here and fix me please! And while you're at it, wanna take my exam for me?

Yuk.

Sexy bitches, oh yes...

This weekend I did SO much yet I feel like I got so little accomplished. I DID do a lot for a certain extravaganza, but as far as school work, I think that is the order for today.

Friday night us sexy bitches* went to Ceile's, an irish "pub" aka a club for people who don't want to go to clubs. It was very fun, and Katie got a LITTLE bit wild. She decided we were going to have a photo shoot in the middle of the bar, and things got a little crazy. I went there in the first place because a guy I work with invited me to go (not the secret crush guy, in case anyone was wondering, though I could have a secret crush on this guy too... SO NICE)... It's nice to see people that you don't normally see outside of a certain environment OUT of that environment. A girl who works at the equipment room came too, so it was like a KNES staff reunion!

Last night, us even sexier bitches went to the Weaselhead, (kind of a dive but still fun) and then, just because we could, Vaness and I went to the Rusty Cage. Now, anyone who knows me, and/or lives by me knows the Rusty Cage. (It's right by my house, and in the weirdest place in my opinion.) I have only been there once before, a LONG time ago, and it was definitely not the kind of place that twenty-somethings go to hang out. BUT, some people were telling us that it was fun, so at 1:00 am we decided to move the party. V and I walk in, and it's a full on club almost! There were beer tub girls, shooter girls, a live band, and it was packed! I would have NEVER guessed that that was what it was like in there. All the people were around our age, and it was seriously SO fun! Besides the weird-o's saying "Now you have a good night sweetheart" as they walk out... ummm, yeah, I will, thanks, there were some fun people there, and it wasn't half bad! Weird night I'll say though... Not what I had expected!

That was my weekend... Today is homework day, maybe I'll eat a chip in dip during the superbowl at some point... Get ready for Grey's Anatomy, and then think spanish all night since I have a presentation tomorrow. Hopefully this week goes by without too many hitches because it's chock (chaulk?) -full of projects and tests.

Only 2 more weeks until Kristen and Jordan are back!!! I can't wait!

*The whole bitches thing is a thing from BSD (or bermuda shorts day, for those non u of c people)... and never in my life will I forget Jordan saying "Kristen, I wanna stay up and drink with the giiiiiirrrrllllsssssss"... Funniest thing ever. Well not EVER, because you really can't beat the grilled cheese thing. But close. Oh Jordan... How I miss your craziness.

Free iPod??

Apparently this website will send you a free iPod if you complete the steps is says on the website. "What do I have to loose?" I thought. So I signed up for the stupid thing, and completed the first step, and I just found out that I need "Five friends to sign up, and we'll send you your iPod". So what am I supposed to do now? Well, if any of you are so inclined, you can follow this link and be one of my five friends. You shouldn't have to pay anything, because I sure didn't... I think you just have to find the one that you don't have to pay for. I don't know. Try it if you'd like, and I would be forever greatful. If you don't, I forgive you.

The Hour

So I find out George is coming to U of C on Monday and Tuesday! I was all stoked to get some tickets, but they're SOLD OUT! Come on! How cool would it be to sit in the audience of the hour??? I potentially could still go if I covered it for the Gauntlet, but I'm sure someone snapped that story up already, and I haven't written for the Gauntlet in ages. Oh well, maybe I'll see George coming into Mac Hall or something. Maybe he'll be in the mood for a squash game!

It's Tuesday!

I wish there was something exciting happening today so that I could feel the enthusiasm implied in my title. I can't even go to Tuesday Night Dinner tonight because I have a couple of papers due this Friday. Boo Urns.

I DO have a dress fitting tonight... not really very exciting, but mediumly exciting...

Today at work I stabbed myself really hard with a pokey thingy while I was re-stringing a racquet. It hurt a LOT and my hand is not working properly because of it. I managed to do a bit of homework today, but I still have to do a lot more. I have this horrific paper that I can't even start... Blech.

Steve and I have been busy busy planning a certain bachelor/bachelorette extravaganza for the past several days... It's definitely coming together. I can't wait for it to happen! I hope everything works out!

I think that's it for today... This wasn't a very exciting post, but looking at the mini eggs all the time made me really want some.

They have returned!!!!!

This time of the year is my favourite... Do you know why? No, it's not Valentine's Day (especially this year... sniff!), it's not the wedding (though I am quite excited for it), it's not even the snowy weather... no, it's the MINI EGGS!!!! I LIVE for mini eggs. I absolutely adore them. And even though they have christmas time mini eggs and valentines mini eggs, they really just aren't the same. So horay! Mini eggs!!!! Too bad they are horrible for my health.

Photo Phriday

I'm really getting sick of the whole "phriday" thing. I think I'm going to change it next week.

I really need to start taking some artsier photos, but for now, you get posy ones.

I'm sick

Sick. As. A. Dog.

I'd make a really whiny pathetic post about how sick I am, but I'll spare you. To those I saw on Tuesday night, I REALLY hope I didn't infect you or your kids. Because this sucks. Big time. I'm off to wallow on the couch and try to eat something since I'm STARVING, but it hurts too much to swallow.

I Hate My Car

Well, that's not entirely true. I just hate it when it doesn't work properly. I quite like it when it does what it's supposed to. What I hate, is having to pay $1000 in repairs/maintenance when there was "technically" nothing wrong with it. (I say technically, and what I mean is there was nothing majorly wrong with it). I took it in today for an oil change, (and a light and mirror repair), and got reminded that my rear breaks and tires need replacing. I had forgotten that last time I took it in they told me that next time I'd need to do these repairs... (and no, my mechanic isn't ripping me off... we know them well and they take good care of me... most of the time.)

Apparently a new side mirror for my car is over $250. I HATE having a rare car that no one cares about. That's a pain in the ass. (And to you teenage punks who ripped my mirror off... karma's a bitch and I hope that you buy a dud of a car and have to pay thousands a year on it.)

I have to remember that I'm lucky to even have a car, and that I'm lucky to not have too many other expenses... so I can't complain too much. But still... over $1000 in repairs when I have pretty much NO disposable income and get paid pretty much nothing per hour. All I can say, I'm pretty flipping glad I have a line of credit. It will be put to good use this month!

4 things

Deeds tagged me, so hey, why not?

4 jobs I have had in my life

1. Currently? Working at the Racquet Centre... slackest job ever.
2. Nanny in St. Isidore Alberta. (Here's a little shout out to Mo, the greatest mum ever who can still party like she could when she was 21.)
3. Before that? Coffee Bar/Kitchen staff at Sunterra Market.
4. And finally, Server at Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. That one was sort of in the middle of the Sunterra stuff... you get the jist.

4 movies I could watch over and over

1. The Sound of Music
2. Mary Poppins (see a musical/Julie Andrews theme here? Don't worry, The Princess Diaries is NOT the next one on the list.)
3. Pretty Woman
4. When Fools Rush In (guess who ALSO loves this movie? Jordan!)

4 placed I have lived

1. Calgary, Alberta
2. St. Isidore, Alberta
3. If I'm going to put anymore it would just be different addresses in Calgary, so I'll stop. I can't WAIT to move somewhere.

4 TV shows I love to watch

1. Grey's Anatomy
2. What not to Wear
3. The Amazing Race
4. Miami Ink

4 places I have been on Vacation

1. Lots of places in Quebec
2. Various places in England and Scotland
3. Vancouver and area
4. Vermont, Florida (I count that as one since they were the same type of visits to Grandparents...)

4 websites I visit daily

1. Blogs etc.
2. My U of C (homework related)
3. Weather Network
4. Overheard in New York

4 favourite foods

1. Sushi
2. Lobster
3. Rice
4. Garden Carrotts (I can't spell that word... I know that in English it's either two r's or two t's, and in French it's two of the one that it isn't two of in English, but I can never remember which one is which, so I always put them both.)

4 places I would rather be right now

1. On an airplane
2. In the kitchen baking something delicious
3. With my sister
4. Somewhere beachy

4 people I tag to complete this

Meh, do it if you want to.

An other Photo Phriday?

Just to prove that I wasn't lying when I told you that last week's photo wasn't the only one of me with my head over a toilet, I give you ME, circa halloween 2003. I was an '80's work-out girl. I won the costume contest. The prize? A beer out of a beer bong. I am only taking part responsibility for my state that night since I warned everyone that 5 minutes after I drank the beer I would be puking but was encouraged to drink it anyway. What's that yellow thing on the counter? My earring. Where's the other one? In the toilet.

Who do I think I am?

Seriously... I went out last night. On a Thursday. To a club. Went to sleep at 3:00. AM! Seriously... as Katie said, "Who do you think you are Heather? Me?" Well put.

So. Sick. Of. School.

How is this possible? I've not even gone for two weeks! 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!

Today went a little like this:
  • Class 1: Didn't understand every third word that was uttered. Shit. Not a good start.
  • Class 2: Haven't read enough of the book with the nipples on the front to know what the hell was going on. (I hoped that because of the nipples on the front there would be a little some' some' in the book to make it a little more interesting. I was mistaken.) Was asked if I was the daughter of the magnificent, talented, goal oriented Dan. Yes, I am, though MUCH lazier.
  • Class 3: Felt as though I was a kindergartner in an advanced chem class. There's a MIRROR in that painting? The painter is in the painting? To where does the door lead in the painting? WHO CARES????!!!!!!!!
  • Class 4: I am so far from being able to pay attention that I may as well have skipped the class. What does the story have to say about spanish culture? I DON'T CARE! Seriously. Don't care.
One. More. Semester. I can do it. For realsies... I can. RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Weekend, where did you go?

I seem to have misplaced the weekend. I don't know where it went. From working, to going to a bridal shower (withOUT the bride, I have to add), to being the obnoxious table in the corner at el sombrero because we drank 3 pitchers of margaritas before going to the bar, to going to brunch a little tired the next day... I just don't know where it went. The result? Didn't do a STITCH of homework and am really tired today.

There was a classy display at the restaurant by all of us (you can visit my flickr site for lame posy pictures)... We like margaritas, okay? I also wore heels. I don't really wear heels. I was walking to the bathroom, tripped a little, in front of a table full of guys. Back at my table, I re-inacted the event and we were talking about it RATHER loudly, and I said "what? WHAT?? I've had a pitcher of margaritas and I'm wearing stilletos... what? I'm owning it. Yeah, owning it." What does that mean? Well, I don't know. But apparently it means SOMETHING because the whole table of guys were hyserical laughing (and I really don't know why, cause I'm not really very funny) and I think someone said "look, those guys are laughing hysterically" which made me whip my head around and stare, which resulted in them laughing EVEN HARDER. I'm not very subtle... ask anyone who's seen me eavesdropping.

Another example of the classiness? Well, when Katie got back from the washroom, she had this strange look on her face. Why, you ask? We were asking the same thing. This is what she replied: "well, I thought I was doing fine (referring to the level of drunkeness), but when I went to leave the bathroom, I realized that I had a straw in my hair. And when I wondered where the straw came from, I realized that I haven't taken a sip of my margarita from my straw since the first round." Of course, we couldn't stop laughing (resulting in more stares fromt the middle aged guys across the restaurant.) How do you get a straw in your hair? We really don't know.

The rest of the night pretty much went like that. We were in our own little margarita land with our own definitions of what funny is... If you ever want a good laugh, just come out with us, because we'll provide enough entertainment for everyone!

Photo Phriday

A glimpse at me, circa February 2004.

Classy... But notice I'm laughing, so I can't be hurting toooooo badly. Actually, that was a pathetic night. Visiting my friend in Vancouver, we (read: I) took pre-drinking to the extreme, and puked upon entering the bar, and preceded to spend THE ENTIRE night on the floor in this position, with my friends coming in once in a while to make sure I hadn't died. And if you think this is the only picture of me with my head hanging over a toilet, you are quite mistaken.

Isn't it ironic? (and if I used "ironic" wrong in that sentence, Kristen will let me know, don't worry.

It's ironic, because for the first time ever, I wrote about a guy on my blog, and for the first time ever, my ex decided to read my blog. Ironic? Not sure, because apparently people use that word incorrectly quite often. Coincedental? I think so!

In any event, that's not REALLY what I wanted to write about.

I am looking for an iPod. I'd really like one. I have a discman, and I like it, but I don't really want to lug it around and I am recently wishing I had some tunes bopping while I'm trapsing around the university. Important thing to note: I do NOT have $200 dollars kicking around to spend (or more). I would like to either get it for free, or for under $100. I've been looking on eBay, but I just don't know if I want to get electronics on ebay because the battery could be dead, it could be not quite what I thought, you know, it's risky. And all the new ones go for lots o' money.

I haven't won any yet (I've tried with stuff at school), and I already have the internet, so I can't sign up for Telus internet to get myself a free iPod. (TOO BAD).

Also, I don't really care what kind of iPod I get. I don't need those uber huge ones, so the mini or the nano, I don't have a preference.

Any suggestions??? Or does anyone have one just kicking around that they'd like to give (or sell) me? Because if so, I'd gladly take it, and I'd even write you a thank-you note.

Seriously...

...boring day. I've been at work for 5 hours and I swear it feels like 8. I can't stand it. BUT, I got to see steph... she came in to the good ole RC to visit. I'm happy she's back this semester... finally some life back into this place!!! And plus I have another person to hang out with on the weekends!

Another good thing about today is I got to see my secret knes crush. So I guess my days isn't THAT boring, but still. He shares an office with my boss and I always get excited when he comes in when I'm working. When I worked on Saturday mornings, he had to come in to do programs with kids, so we'd always see each other and chat a bit. Now that I don't work Saturdays anymore, I was worried that I wouldn't see him anymore! But lo and behold, he comes in on Tuesdays as well! The other day when we were chatting I asked him if he was married cause he's a bit older than me (it came up in conversation, I didn't just blurt out the questino randomly) and he was like "no!" but I didn't have the balls to ask if he had a girlfriend. I can't remember how old he is, but this summer my other boss and I (cause I worked in the same place but in a different section) would always talk about how cute he was, and I THINK she said he was like 25-26-27 years old. That's kinda old... well 25 isn't bad, but 27 is a little too old I think. (and just to be clear, I don't think that's OLD in general but kinda old to date since I'm only 21). Oh well, I can still have a secret crush on him!

I told Steph about him when she came in (he wasn't here then) and she was like "ASK HIM OUT HEATHER WOOOOOOO" but I don't think I ever could... that would be SO weird. I AT LEAST have to find out if he has a girlfriend first, but even then, I seriously could never actually ask him out.

I just helped a customer, and then crush guy walked RIGHT behind my computer and I made this random scramble to try to shrink my screen so he wouldn't see what I was writing. Smooth moves.

This is so wrong.

Back to school...

Today was the first day back at school... I had four classes: spanish, french, spanish, break, spanish. Sound like fun???

It actually wasn't too bad. I feel WAY out of my league in 2 of the spanish classes, kinda a little bit out of my league in the french one, and then I think I might feel smart in the other spanish class. When I read that the final paper was to be 7-8 pages, I was like "are you kidding me? BREEZE!" How sad is that that I think 7-8 pages will be a breeze... well when all the others are 10-15, it really IS a breeze! But I'm not here to bitch and complain about my school work... well I guess I kinda am. SO never mind!

The school was PAINFULLY busy today. I HATE the first week of school. I have to deal with PEOPLE in the places where I want to be... how dare they sit at the table I want to sit at! How dare they take the machine I want at the gym. After the first week, people stop going to class and the gym, so it will be better, but for now, it's a pain in my ass.

This isn't a very interesting post. Oh well. Maybe I'll have something exciting to say tomorrow, after I have to deal with stupid people at work who ask me where the pool is or something.

Getting there...

I'm slowly but surely getting there. I'm finding all sorts of things that I like about it! Besides the fact that it's incredibly cute and nice looking, it works well too!!!

Next on the list is to figure out printers... I have a feeling I can't connect to the printer that I want to since it's in a windows thing. Oh well.

So now I can show you a picture of my new computer... I don't know if anyone cares, but if you do, that's it!!!!

Kristen left today... boo. I was asleep when she left, so she jumped on my bed and said goodbye and I think I mustered out some kind of "see ya later" but I'm not 100% sure.

The next 6 weeks will FLY by I'm sure because I have all sorts of things to do before the wedding. The bachelor/ette party will need to be planned asap. I was hoping to get it all done during the Christmas break, but I have done NOTHING. So oops!

Back to fiddling with my computer... Then going to work. I think I'm going to live it large and bring it with me and watch a DVD or something. Living it large over here I tell ya!

Frustrated

I got a new computer. I love it. Except that I don't know how to use it. I'm VERY frustrated. But I know I'll love it more when I learn how to use it. For now, I'm working on getting stupid MSN messenger to work on it.

And all of a sudden my tools thing on blogger has lost a few things. Like the hyperlink button. I was going to link you to what my computer is, but it's not there. Blech I'm frustrated.

At work...

...and have been since 7 am. AM!!! What kind of person plays squash at 7 am???? Apparently no one, since not one person came in until 10.

What a waste of a potential sleep in!
